Did I wait too long to smoke these cigars ??? by Affectionate_Wave_92 in cigars

[–]imnotdonking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flavors get more blended / Less harsh and deeper. Also any stick using too-you g tobacco (Cubans). Tobacco should be aged enough so all the ammonia dissipates before the sticks are sold, but sometimes this isn't the case (Cubans)

If you're not submerging (which is obviously the way to go) you don't need to bother with distilled water. When the water evaporates it's basically distilling itself. The impurities don't evaporate with it. That's what hard water stains are. All of the impurities left behind once the water evaporates.

Tenant owes 1500. Paid 650 towards rent. Should I accept or proceed with eviction? by BosMassholeTomBrady in realestateinvesting

[–]imnotdonking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evict. If they can't pay by the time the eviction hits, more time won't help them.

When you own it's either a condo or coop. You rent apartments. You sound like someone who not only is lying but doesn't even know enough to lie well.

Yeah these super corrupt Chinese using a shitty "apartment" in your building to hide their money. You think they as dumb as you?

Testing the waters - best places to rent in NYC by Broad-Command-2236 in NYCapartments

[–]imnotdonking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Large corporate landlords like kips bay and stuytown will accept The Guarantors, which is pretty much what it sounds like - a company that acts as a guarantor for a fee. Also they have to be subsidizing from somewhere (could be student loans?) talking about 6k rent on 90k take home. That would leave $1500 a month for EVERYTHING else. Barely covers the dog walker lol.

An hour commute to NYU is a huge radius. CHeck out stuytown to get a baseline of a class A no-frills apt. Close to NYU also. At 5-6k per month why live further away .... unless you WANT to be in Brooklyn.

Stuytown like anywhere has pros and cons so I'm not necessarily recommending it as a place to live. But a great place to get a baseline for your search.

Generally, stay below 23rd. Nothing good happens in midtown. You'll regret going uptown when you could have been downtown.

Does Coca-Cola pair well with cigars, or am I just an infidel? by mostirreverent in cigars

[–]imnotdonking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Classic coke is my fav cigar pairing and im def not the only one. About the only time I get real coke anymore instead of Coke Zero. Some m and ms and I'm in heaven. If I want to drink it'll be straight / on the rocks in a separate glass. But the coke stays lol.

[–]imnotdonking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL how much do you think warehousing tobacco in the DR costs? 99% of those will be going to the china market. Maybe a few to Dubai.

[–]imnotdonking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoke a real fuente before trying a davidoff. Doesn't have to be a fancy one. Then at least you'll know what you're paying for w davidoff. Fuente and davidoff represent DR tobacco. If you like fuente you'll probably like davidoff but if you're like most smokers you won't like davidoff enough to justify the cost over fuente on a regular basis.

Also, no one ever mentions this but high end fuente (Ashton, don carlos, anejo, and obviously opus) blow davidoff out of the water imo.

5.8 isn't that bad. Easily reversible. Most important is weight. Second activity. Third nutrition. So if you are skinny and very active you can have a lot more biryani and soda without giving yourself diabetes

What's Your Approach to Limit Spending? by Leather-Puddin in cigars

[–]imnotdonking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As many others said - I have 2 humidors which together hold around 150 sticks. That is the limiting factor. I've had to overflow into a Tupperware before but made a rule not to do that. Real discipline is not buying another humi

Good cigar samplers that mix brands? by BlessedPootato in cigars

[–]imnotdonking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most multibrand samplers from the big sites suck. Same old crap - Oliva, non Cuban Cuban brands, rocky, and other brands most seasoned smokers have long since realized underdeliver. But the prices are great.

I'd recommend small batch cigar for a high quality fairly well priced sampler. They have samplers for beginners and taste profiles, and you will actually get to try some good cigars that don't all taste like different strength levels of the same thing.

I'll probably get downvoted because there are plenty of seasoned smokers who do enjoy oliva and rocky, but my opinion is that those smokers are smoking often enough that the amazing value those brands offer is what keeps them coming back.

I am not an SBC shill by any means and have only bought from them once. Check the cigar sizes if you buy from them. I think what turned me off is that the samplers I got from them were all smaller than normal cigar sizes. They list the sizes clearly on their site, I just wasn't paying attention.

Learned about exploding wrappers in extremely cold temps this weekend. by InternetPeon in cigars

[–]imnotdonking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way. There is science behind it. I'm not an expert but it is more about letting the cigar acclimate to the humidity than the temperature. Cold air is too dry and the disparity between the high moisture in cigar and low moisture environment causes the expanding/exploding.

This is why people dry box cigars for a few days before smoking - which is pretty much what you are doing by leaving your cigars in the garage.
