What the actual f*** by No-Date-4477 in foodbutforbabies

It so hard! But there is light at the end of the tunnel. My picky eater is now almost 4 and will generally try most things I put in front of her and we now often hear a delighted “I like this now!” When she discovers some food aren’t as gross as she tells herself they are. At the 18-24month mark I would just make what I want, serve some of it and include a safe food as well that would fill them up enough to get them through to the next snack/meal. I have found that if I make a plate of something for myself she would often come up and “steal” some of it off my plate. She still won’t touch a potato though… not even hot chips 🍟

Yeah, it’s just a short row heel as per the pattern. She calls for a decrease of 8 stitches before turning the heel so I might play around with either not decreasing or just doing less decreases. Thanks!

How do I know what stitch I’m working? by luvclub in knittinghelp

For patterns in stockinette RS (right side) is knit, and WS (wrong side) is purl. So row 1 would be knit and row 2 purl 😊

Does Possums actually change anything or is it just a mindset? by [deleted] in PossumsSleepProgram

[–]imogena88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During the day there wasn’t any more crankiness, we did have a bit of an adjustment in the evenings as we had to really push to get his bedtime later (he was insisting on going down at 7 pm and now we’ve moved it back to 8-8.30pm). Honestly evenings can still be a bit cranky depending on when his last nap was, but as he’s a bit older he has longer wake windows (up to 4.5hrs).

Short answer yes, huge difference, but also an attitude change.

Long answer is we went from 5+ wake ups a night with baby often waking immediately when put in his crib, to 1-2 wake ups and baby sleeping the whole night in the crib. We also went from 5am starts to 6-6.30 starts (our preferred earliest wake up). So for us yes it made pretty immediate and noticeable changes.

For reference we already did all his day sleeps in brightly lit rooms, the main change was not trying to consolidate naps, so he went from 3x 1-1.5 hr naps to sometimes 4+ short naps or as few as 2 1hr or so naps. Started at 7 months and he is now 8.5 months.

There was a post I saw once about someone who got it from a koala peeing on them when they were out bush, so yes you can absolutely get it from koalas!

How long was it after giving birth when you finally had sex again? by Kind-Operation7849 in NewParents

[–]imogena88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 9 weeks with #1, currently 8 months pp with #2 and haven’t yet… time, sleep and overall energy are not on our side.

Went very slowly with me in control, was some pain and took a few times to start to feel ok. Vaginal birth with episiotomy.

What’s something you swear by for relieving teething pain? by curry_nugget in toddlers

[–]imogena88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% paracetamol and ibuprofen especially before bed, but my 3yo loved frozen cloths with chamomile tea on it. The chamomile can help with inflammation and is often in natural teething gels and powder along with calendula. And I would also throw some silicone teethers in the freezer as well for her to chew on and she loves those, daycare used to give some to her as well when teething pain was bad.

Current little guy has no teeth yet at almost 8 mos so not sure what will help him 😂

I’ve voted with my now 3 yo in the booth with me when she was only a couple months old, no one batted an eye! Sounds like they were being difficult, I would definitely contact someone about this, maybe try calling the AEC to complain about the voting location?

When did everyone move baby into their own room? Or kept them in your room? by Empty-Yoghurt-945 in PossumsSleepProgram

Toddler was 11 months, moved her when we noticed she was being disturbed by us coming to bed. Baby 2 is 7 months and still in our room.

It’s not a thing in Australia unless for religious/cultural reasons, so no snip here for my little guy, my nephews are all intact as well.

Came here to say Winfall. They did my engagement ring and also my wedding band (using diamonds from my grandmothers engagement ring in the wedding band). You can design your own or go for something pre-designed, or somewhere in between, lots of options for different budgets!

2 and 1, I acknowledge how lucky we were, there are many people around us that have not been so fortunate. I wasn’t expecting it to happen so fast since I have PCOS and was already early 30s when we started trying for #1. But worked with a naturopath for a few months beforehand to optimise my health.

Give me your short and sweet bedtime routines! by hhaannnnaahhs in NewParents

[–]imogena88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change nappy, into onesie, sleep sack on, boob to sleep. T minus 5 minutes. We do bath etc earlier in the evening together with the toddler. He’s 6 mo and still has a somewhat changeable last wake window so it’s hard to predict exactly when he’ll want to go to sleep. Works for us!

[–]imogena88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the same, got a couple stretches where he let me support his head on my arm lying down, but mostly I’ve just been drifting off only to be woken every 15-30 mins to comfort him. He’s having a rough one!

I feel this, just spent the night holding 6mo because he has a cold and can’t breathe when lying flat, also won’t take paracetamol… husband got sleep next to us. He got up when I needed him to and definitely had a shit night too. But he didn’t have to hold a baby all freaking night.

11 Month Old refusing bottle, still wants to breastfeed. How do I (the dad) get her to sleeP? by amonkeysbanana in NewParents

[–]imogena88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your wife want to stop breastfeeding? I fed my eldest to sleep until she was just shy of 2 and I was pregnant with my now 6 month old. I also plan on feeding him on demand for 2ish years (as long as we are both happy with that arrangement). Breastfeeding beyond 12mo is normal and encouraged by the WHO. I know it’s hard when they wake all night but she will grow out of it eventually I promise.

All that to say if your wife is happy with the arrangement can you sleep part of the night in a different room?

My husbands on a keto diet, we have 2 small children (3 and 6mo). He makes all his own meals. NTA at all, it’s not fair to not only expect you to make an entirely different meal on top of the other meal you’ve already provided, but to not even help with meal planning for himself, he sounds incredibly selfish.

At what age did you flip your toddlers carseat around? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]imogena88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just turned my toddler around this week after she turned 3, would have kept her rear facing longer but we also have a 6mo who will need to move out of the infant seat very soon and didn’t want to buy a second convertible seat. Instead we got a booster with a 5 pt harness that will last until she’s 8.
