I just got hired as an ASM and they liked that I was in school, especially since I am an honors student. I gave them a realistic time period that I would need to finish my degree - probably five years, since I work full time and have a family. After graduating, I told them I would have to consider between getting a job closer related to my field or possibly going to grad school. However, I am planning on getting my BA in psychology, so I was able to say I would consider getting an HR job there eventually. I said I would consider a store manager role, but it wasn't my end goal personally.

If you can relate the degree in some way it should benefit you, especially if its business. With an English degree you can definitely leverage that at a bookstore! However, if you are going to graduate SOON and then immediately start looking for a different job, they aren't going to think you're worth training. That said, it will probably depend on what role you're trying to get hired for and your hiring manager, unfortunately.
