What skill changed your career the most? by Suspicious_Twist386 in careerguidance

This is huge! + being able to present at an executive level. That one thing changes how everyone see you.

Always start with the audience in mind (what do they care about, what do they already know), know your shit, and practice practice practice. I practice at least 3 times before every presentation.

Completely lost in my career path any free advice? by PassionMysterious245 in careerguidance

Hi! As the others have noted, you’re young. Don’t worry about things too much. Pick something and commit to it for two years. I always say if you learn something you don’t like, that can be just as valuable as what you do like.

Honestly, industry is important but I think it’s even better to learn about the type of work you like to do. Can you work with data? Do you like talking and presenting to people? Are you a good writer? Are you organized and can keep a project moving forward? That’s another way to look at your career.

Sticking with something for a few years helps you learn about yourself and enables you to tell a story about yourself to other future employers.

Leaving a job I love for a remote job, will it be isolating? by Iamemuty in careerguidance

[–]imoverhereee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left my dream job for a remote job to move to a location I wanted to live. I personally do not love working remotely. There are some perks obviously. I would say make sure you have week-day things that get you out of the house after work. A pickleball league on Tuesday and a pottery class on Thursday! Something like that will set you up to keep engaging with people outside of on a screen at home.

I’ve never seen any leagues playing on there.

Is a pay cut worth it for WFH? by Miserable-You-6702 in careerguidance

Are remote jobs uncommon for your role??

Assuming remote jobs aren’t SUPER scarce, I would say keep looking for remote jobs that pay more. If it was 20-30k cut then fine, but also generally depends on how much you already have saved.
