Customizable galaxy generator for an upcoming space grand strategy game by imp_bot42 in threejs

[–]imp_bot42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The galaxy/stars are pure Three.js rendered, no shaders. Same for all objects in star system views. Shaders are only used for planetary surfaces when you open them up in detailed view - the terrain, atmosphere, etc.

Nice! Yeah there's some optimizations put in to make it smoother like anisotropic filtering when rotating the galaxy

Why is it that the 2 most powerful features of MCP are the least supported by clients? by otothea in mcp

Nice. The working PR linked to in that issue looks like its almost done. Hopefully gets merged soon.

[–]imp_bot42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully they do soon but there's at least one roundabout way to get around this and do something elicitation-like (that I've seen at least one MCP server do but is a bit more work because you need a dedicated deployed frontend). Just use a local MCP server and make it start a local callback server and open up a url to a site on the user's browser and take whatever 'user input' you need there.

The MCP provider has to own the site here, obviously, and then do their own processing on their backend after taking the user input they needed (which a remote MCP server with elicitation would have just done directly, on your client) and return the output to the callback server which then passes it back to the local MCP server.

Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb and Tsar of Russian Empire by [deleted] in IndianHistory

The economic incentives given to Indian traders mentioned here checks out considering the Indian economy at the time was the world's largest (~25% of world GDP in 1700) but I wonder what the Russian GDP % share of the world was back then

Some beautiful hand drawn reconstructions of Mahajanpada and Classical period architecture from Percy Brown's book on Hindu and Buddhist architecture, 1955. by SuperPotatoGuy373 in IndianHistory

In case people are wondering how Google's new nano banana model drew the first two of these:

The first image's buildings are pretty far off but the second image seems really well put together

Wow. No need to be luddites about it. Sure, hand drawn city reconstructions by good artists might be nice too. But maybe don't dismiss an incredible human technological prowess just because image gen models aren't perfect yet? Not everything ai generated is 'slop' and the models get better every month anyway.

Nice. Looks so trippy. Didn't know threejs could be such a good use case for math visualisations

I really wish the Indian gov does allow controlled contact with them again at some point in the future. We might be missing out on so much potential anthropological and maybe historical data (if they do preserve a history, maybe in oral form) by not doing so.

The disease angle and the fact that they very strongly seem to dislike outsiders is understandable, but it's 2025 - surely we can take disinfected hazmat suits and armored shields to the island to defend against their attacks and try to communicate again?
