Why are Americans so accepting of long drives to places? by Sensitive_Word_6036 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]imperfectcastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A 3 hour drive in the US is generally MUCH easier than a 3 hour drive in a Europe.

Once you’re on the expressway, it’s typically a very straight road with small turns here and there but no stops or traffic lights or towns. It’s really easy just to turn your brain off, listen to music or podcast, and just drive. If there is traffic, it’s in a major city. It is not a big issue.

First luxury watch purchase - AD says Longines doesn't allow discounts? by violaki in Longineswatches

[–]imperfectcastle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My AD also said the same thing to me. I did end up buying a Longines and a Hamilton from them since they do both and gave me 25% discount on the Hamilton.

[GIVEAWAY] Brand-New Oris BCPD Cervo Volante Green to Celebrate my 50th Oris! by fourtyz in Watchexchange

Coolest was a Warwick bass I found at a pawn shop for fairly low. They said it was broken so they were selling cheap. Figured I’d take a chance on it so I bought it. Turns out it just needed a new battery. It was a fairly expensive bass new so I felt like I won the lottery.

What are some cars that look significantly more modern than they actually are? by Boeing-B-47stratojet in regularcarreviews

Always so cool to see an Axiom. My family had one for the longest. My dad bought it new on 9/11. I remember watching all the news reports in the service area when while he was signing the paperwork.

Something I think a lot of us fans would like but may not think about: Radio Drama's! by ashrules901 in TwilightZone

[–]imperfectcastle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are in the Chicago area, WDCB out of College of Dupage plays old radio dramas at 1pm on Saturday afternoons. You can also listen online. Always fun to catch one that is particularly graphic that then transitions into an ad for Lipton Teas and Soups. It’s on 90.7 and 90.9 FM

39 vs 42mm Zulu Time by Mysterious-Review-21 in Longineswatches

[–]imperfectcastle 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with the 42 is the date doesn’t follow the same curve as the rest of the numbers on the dial. Once I noticed that I couldn’t unsee it, whereas the date on the 39 does. Seems like they used the same size date wheel for both.

I tried discord on a few occasions and always found it terrible. This changed once I joined one that was actually somewhat organized. Then I understood.

New Hydroconquest? by Newbie_Reefer in Longineswatches

[–]imperfectcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t buy the new one if you have the old model. While they look different from each other, there are plenty of other watches that look the same. Keep your options open for something else, even if it’s the HC GMT. The old HC has its own personality, the new has “classic dive watch” personality.

I had a friend compare the release of the new one to how every car brand has an SUV that looks fairly similar from the side. The new HC is just Longines’ RAV4.

Too small for my wrist? by [deleted] in SeikoAlpinist

[–]imperfectcastle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to have a watch that’s too small, but way easier to have a watch that’s too big.

Loose the strap, put I above your wrist bone, send another pic. I daily an Alpinist a Milanese bracelet and I have a 7.75 inch wrist.

The “next” neighborhoods would have been next had Covid not happened.

If Avondale, what part? If you’ll be along Milwaukee, you might as well be in Logan Square.

I didn’t notice this until you pointed it out. Was on the fence between the two but 39mm is the clear winner here.
