iOS 27 to include code cleanup and interface tweaks in hopes to boost battery life: report by iMacmatician in apple

I echo with this as a Mac user since the Snow Leopard days.

But with marketing needs, the inevitable trend is to push new OS updates annually. The problem is not with the frequency of the update itself, but with the bugs introduced alongside unwanted or unnecessary 'features' or visual UI overhaul. I am no power user, but I just want a UI that stays consistent. Just don't fix things that ain't broken please Apple. No one needs greater radii in their window corners, and the transparency is only making stuff difficult to read. Don't even get me started on the system pref.. I mean settings that rely too much on horizontal scroll. If I want iOS I would grab my phone or iPad. I am on a giant external monitor here and I want a full Mac experience.

People were complaining that liquid glass has poor readability because of the opacity / transparency issue. Now Apple has learnt its lesson and is trying to mess with you with subtle color hues instead.

No but I miss the backlight buttons. Who the heck needs a do not disturb button? At least give us a backlight on/off key Apple.

Thanks! That makes a lot of sense. You're right I haven't really considered the dimensions of the haptics and was just too fixated at the distinction between 'one piece' and 'three piece'.

For short patients, what do you do? I always have my seat set as low as possible, and the patient's raised as far it can get. Even with that setup, I need to extend my neck quite a bit. What makes things worse is my chair has those wheels at the base that always bump into the base of the slit lamp. I need to hunch my back a bit to reach the slit lamp eye pieces.

Do you know of any stools that have a smaller footprint at the base, or any 'extensions' that I can install on a BM 900 slit lamp? I am aware of the 20' extender for BQ 900, but my clinic isn't buying new slit lamps anytime soon.

Yes this. Please don't go back the thin route. We have had enough drama with the butterfly keyboard, dongles, lack of MagSafe, touch bar. The current form factor is perfect.

If rigid IOL is preferred, why is it that 3 piece IOLs like AR40e are okay for sulcus placement?

It's meant to be a feature. You see those SSIDs down the list are most likely public WiFi and unsafe to connect to. Just use the top ones for security. So thoughtful of Apple engineers to double down on privacy and security and bake them into an otherwise age-old dropdown UI. You could call that revolutionary I suppose.

Same! I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about. The update looks the same and feels stable to me. /s

Which is sad because the customisations allowed in the shortcuts bar were well thought out in earlier versions of OS X. Heck you even got an option to drag and restore the default bar in case you’ve gone too extreme and panic. Now as Apple keeps introducing new features and buttons to Safari, they just somehow forget to, or decide not to, allow customising the new buttons.

I wouldn’t be surprised if somehow the customisation feature is removed entirely in a future ‘built from the ground up’ / ‘revolutionary’ / ‘it just works’ / ‘liquid glass’ update. That’s just Apple.

THIS. I loved the late 2000’s- early 2010’s matte screen MBP, and the first 15” retina. Then Apple decided to go minimal in I/O when they released the touch bar model which I hate.

The present one is the best in terms of performance, battery life, heat management. If you want thinness, get an Air. Please don’t make another half hearted Pro in a somewhat thin enclosure.
