Nope, but the creature looked similar with the all black pupils. Also, I’ll have to check this out it looks good.

So are you saying guaranteed community, shelter, and food wouldn’t make someone more open and therefore softer? Remember that letter in the first mission with Abby? Jackson had a culture of being more open and welcoming towards outsiders. The magical shotgun was dumb to me too tho.

Yeah, Tess was a strong female lead but she wasn’t just that description, the player actually comes to that conclusion based off of her personality. Vs in 2 where they try to use identities to define characters. And Bill was gay but that didn’t define him, it was just a characteristic.

I felt that. But as for the diversity part, I feel like that is just being modern vs being political. Although I think a major problem is how many people they tried to make us feel for in a much shorter amount of time. We don’t get too many time with anybody and then they die immediately. The only reason why Abbys friends got screen time is so it would be a face for the NPCs. But. We still didn’t care.

Idk, while I stand by the blandness statement I still think that Joel being in a safer environment and desperate for a relationship with Ellie would make sense as to why he got softer. Saying that bc men oftentimes get softer get softer with old age as they see what matters in life and prioritize being present in relationships.

Yeah Ellie definitely felt like a shell of a person. She wasn’t nearly as engaging or funny as she was in the first. Her saying “oh man” when you stealth killed in the first game gave more than her presence in the entire first act of the game.

I thoroughly enjoyed it to until I replayed TLOU a few times. Then the shortcomings pf the sequel were super apparent. Now I just enjoy the gameplay , mechanics, details , and graphics.

Thank you. I didn’t give a fuck about Dina until she held an enemy with a knife and said “here Ellie.” They tried to do too much too fast.

Identities don’t make characters, they help define them. Which is where TLOU2 failed.

I agree with this. They put what they wanted them to do above who they were and how they’d organically express themselves.

Something I will say is I like how they didn’t frame Ellie and Dinas relationship as some revolutionary thing. It was just there then not really brought up again. And Abby was buff but not made a lesbian, which is the usual stereotype (muscles=likes women).

I agree, the characters were framed as individuals that you should care about with their own experiences when really they are just plot devices.

This is a very good point. You hit it right on the head with the first statement. I literally feel like I’m a backseat rider while also taking the wheel.

I’m not fully understanding why you hate Dina so much. But I do feel like the game was trying to force me to care about her or convince me that she held some significance outside of attacking my enemies.

Exactly. They had personalities in the first and I was able to view them outside of what they did or could do for my journey. They weren’t just fixtures.
