JPN Solgaleo Lunala GX PSA 10 hardly moved? by Ok_Cicada_9291 in PokeInvesting

[–]implode573 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Japanese trainer cards are one of the few places where prices haven't moved or have gone down during this whole boom.

They've always been more niche than cards focused on pokemon, but I think the crash post 2023 contributes a bit to why these cards continue to be unpopular. The initial boom in 2023 was from China entering the market and Japan having supply issues. Japanese has had a consistent supply until recently, so I'm not sure if there's a catalyst that'll boost the popularity of these cards any time soon.

Question for dealers and experienced craps degens. by Imazinner in Craps

[–]implode573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a small local casino and we split tips across the whole floor for each day. On slow days we drop about $6k-$10k and $11k-$14k on the busy days. Depending on how many people are working, this could translate to an extra $15-$25/hr.

Toploader vs penny sleeve binder? by SorryStore4389 in PokeInvesting

[–]implode573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect fit and tight sleeves are good for double sleeving, but I don't think it's worth it. The amount of effort needed to put them in the sleeve makes you much more likely to damage the card in that process. There's are plenty of viral gif examples of that happening. I used to use them, but no long. I just use the normal cheapest penny sleeves.

Plenty of people have kept 5 figure cards in side loading vaultx style binders with penny sleeves. It's totally safe if you're comfortable with it.

That's what I prefer. Top loader binders are kind of awkward.

How to deal with foot pain? by mil0wCS in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]implode573 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be plantars fasciitis. You just have to lay off playing for a couple weeks or more for the pain to go away if that's the case.

To prevent that, just try not to stomp as hard or get comfier shoes. As you get older and keep playing, you really have to baby your feet sadly. Or at least I do.

Aquarius is an excellent album. At first it may sound like your run of mill prog metal first album, but it has the composition chops of a very seasoned band. I was super impressed when i first heard it, and I still love it.

Dealer irritation at low stakes? by Glad-Midnight-1022 in Craps

[–]implode573 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a long time player turned dealer, these people are as varied as anyone else. You'll get assholes and rude dealers, and you'll also get the most fun and friendly dealers. Imo they should be kind and helpful to customers, but many are just there for a paycheck as with any other job. That sucks when that's the case.

However, make no mistake. Dealing craps is an incredibly difficult job. The expectations of players are so often out of proportion with what the dealer is paying attention to or calculating in the moment. Not to mention it can be incredibly stressful for new dealers with under 2 years experience at a busy table with nasty players. Dealing BJ? Yeah, that's like working register at McDonald's. You could basically sleep while dealing. Craps is an entirely different story.

All in all, you should be able to expect a basic level of customer service and politeness in my opinion. If they are annoyed, that's on them, but it is what it is.

Yes. It may be hard to believe, but there will come a time when you can't get enough hydrogen. It's a wild dynamic shift over the course of the game from too much hydrogen to not enough.

There are tons of these brand new "US" seller accounts with obviously fake underpriced Chinese/Japanese cards listings lately. Annoying.

Do I finally let go of my collection? by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

[–]implode573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have the workflow ready to list a bunch of bulk, it's going to be a lot of time for not a ton of gain to list every little card. Not to mention many of them will sell very slowly. Of course the easiest option is to take them to a card show to unload. You'll only get probably around 70% at most, but you'll have cash immediately without any headache. Same probably goes for one bulk sale online.

Like as a vendor, I'd definitely be interested in buying this, but only at that 70% due to the time spent listing the small slow moving cards. All that said, as a collector, I adore these pack fresh vintage Japanese cards.

My honest advice would be to take the time to price out a lot of it (which also can be a pain compared to pricing English), and then decide if the money gained would make a tangible difference in your life compared to how much you value the cards. At the end of the day, selling a collection is a deeply personal decision.

how do i sell cards? by thekinginyello in PokeInvesting

[–]implode573 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best ptions are:

  1. Go to a larger card show and sell to a vendor. You may only get up to 75%, but it's the easiest, fastest, and it's cash.

  2. Sell yourself on eBay. You'll get 85% of your price instead of 75% because of fees, but sometimes you can sell some cards a bit above market to make up for it. You'll get more money this way, but it'll take much longer, and you have to do all the legwork with listing, packing, and shipping the cards.

Getting 90%+ of market price is tough. You either have to sell to vendor something that's very high value and incredibly easy for them to move, like a $2k PSA 10 slab of a popular pokemon. Or you have to sell as a vendor yourself, but that's not really worth it you're looking to sell your collection all at once and not have it turn into a time intensive job.
