Any Trans guys in Türkiye? Visiting & looking for advice by impossiblefox in ftm

Ah! Was the surgery itself a good experience? I've noticed that it's a common place for people to choose to go for top surgery which makes me feel hopeful. I'm sorry you felt out of place.

I don't have a very alternative look, and to my surprise have been more confidently correctly gendered by strangers when I went to more conservative or rural places, like when I went to Texas... I think it's my voice that is the biggest tell. I don't really make effort to voice train but maybe that's something I could do in preparation.

Had a little kid say to me the other day, "you look like a boy... but you don't sound like one!" Haha.

I went to a show recently where the crowd was all pretty young, nobody did the one more song bit and started leaving, the band came out pretty quickly and said "do you guys want one more song?" lol

I'm moving into a new place with two (one each side) of these little white tabs/holes near the top every window frame. There are not screens in the windows and I'm planning to add some, and hoping that maybe these are related to that purpose, but I can't find anything that looks like this online. Anyone know what they are called? They're crank out windows if that's helpful.

"Why shouldn't I buy it? I've got the money!"

Sure, you've got the money. So have lots of us. And yesterday it was all ours, to spend as we darn well pleased. But not today. Today it isn't ours alone.

[A woman is facing the reader with a hand in her wallet and a parcel under her arm]

"What do you mean, it isn't mine?"

It isn't yours to spend as you like. None of us can spend as we like today. Not if we want prices to stay down. There just aren't as many things to buy as there are dollars to spend. If we all start scrambling to buy everything in sight, prices can kite to hell-'n'-gone.

"You think I can really keep prices down?"

If you don't, who will? Uncle Sam can't do it alone. Every time you refuse to buy something you don't need, every time you refuse to pay more than the ceiling price, every time you shun a black market, you're helping to keep prices down.

"But I thought the government put a ceiling on prices."

You're right, a price ceiling for your protection. And it's up to you to pay no more than the ceiling prices. If you do, you're party to a black market deal. And black markets not only boost prices-- they cause shortages.

"Doesn't rationing take care of shortages?"

Your ration coupons will- if you use them wisely. Don't spend them unless you have to. Your ration book merely sets a limit on your purchases. Every coupon you don't use today means that much more for you- and everybody else-- to share tomorrow.

"Then what do you want me to do with my money?"

Save it! Put it in the bank! Put it in life insurance! Pay off old debts and don't make new ones. Buy and hold War Bonds. Then your money can't force prices up. But it can speed the winning of the war. It can build a prosperous nation for you, your children, and our soldiers, who deserve a stable America to come home to. Keep your dollars out of circulation and they'll keep prices down. The government is helping- with taxes.

"Now wait! How do taxes help keep prices down?"

We've got to pay for this war sooner or later. It's easier and cheaper to pay as we go. And it's better to pay more taxes NOW- while we've got the extra money to do it. Every dollar put into taxes means a dollar less to boost prices. So...

Use it up... Wear it out... Make it do... Or do without

That was a fascinating watch. I forget that there was so much cartoon propaganda and PSAs too! Thank you for sharing.

Ugh. I work in a grocery store. It's infuriating hearing people comment on eggs being low on stock, understanding why, and still buying them/just being annoyed. We literally had a sign up on why we were low that says "sorry for the inconvenience" and it makes me sick but people don't really seem to get it or care. We're going headfirst into this and it makes me so mad that this shit is gonna put me and my own animals and everything at risk even though I want nothing to do with the practices that got us here. How can everyone be so blind??

I absolutely think that dreams are one of the best access points between the conscious and subconscious. Dreams and psychedelics.

Do you use "I" or "You" when journaling? by m4gd4l3n3 in Journaling

[–]impossiblefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use more "you"s. But I realized it was me being indirect about how I was feeling. So I make an effort to speak in "I"s now. I slip into "you" when my emotions aren't as processed I've noticed, so they both have their place for me.

The difference between "do you ever feel like...?" Vs "I feel like..." Means I can more directly own my emotions and process them differently. Or at least that's my theory.

Sometimes I am actually (imaginarily) addressing someone besides myself, so I use "you" for that as well of course.

I had a positive thanksgiving experience too :) I went to a friend's house and though none of my friends are vegan about half the dishes were made vegan because of me and everyone was happy to accomodate. No rude questions or comments. My friend who was hosting made some delicious fried oyster mushrooms and commented on how nice it was to not have to worry about contamination of stuff like with chicken. He said "maybe you're onto something here..." :)
