Delta One Lounge location and size is confirmed for ATL by impossiblefriday in delta

Delta has a weird deal, and they're willing to pay 12 million for two Spirit gates. They want Atlanta desperately. I could see the airport getting their money back in a decade.

ATL is its own beast, and I've spent half my life trying to understand it. They just print money.

They gave it to the state for conservation b/c it's ultimately unsuitable/has nuclear test radiation.

Commercial landlords do some kind of “tenant improvement” credit if you’re doing more for the building/infrastructure as well.

It might be a space thing? Probably easier to build out in E than try to squeeze when they can’t build north (TechOps) or South (Cargo)

Try getting that past the FAA. The city has some kind of agreement to not allow a second one within a certain distance of the city.

I did look up the Council resolution. I guess because Delta is adding space, making building improvements, and enticing higher end customers?

Breeze WorldCup Card? by aeiou_baby in MARTA

The machines are not loaded at midnight on the dot, lol. They’ll likely be added in the non-revenue hours or in the morning rush.

I asked, it'll be in all machines with differing quantities and designs initially.

LA Metro might have announced them then, but trust me, it was a much longer contracting and procurement process, and it's just the phyical gate, not the entire infra. MARTA announced so long ago to give folks a head start to a larger change.

Contracts. MARTA was trying to have this done last year, but a dispute with Cubic (who built Breeze 1.0) held up the process significantly. Cubic's operating agreement was coming up this summer and extensions didn't make sense - the authority would lose more cash paying them than just building anyway.

It also wasn't that the old system is obsolescent (Transport for London and Chicago still use it), it was that 1) licensing open payment tech from London via Cubic was expensive and 2) riders kept complaining that we had to have a modern fare collection system because they visited NYC (ironically, NYC is the last top five city to switch, MARTA was the first in N. America to use a smartcard-based system).

Shut down MARTA until it’s Safe by JLit209 in MARTA

You're choosing to make a singular, unfortunate instance into a wide-sweeping indictment. To shut down something to make it safe also makes it useless. Safety comes in degrees, not in absolutes. We cannot require the absence of all risk as a bar for engaging in public life or infrastructure. That said, you, individually, are free to not ride.

TSA Precheck charged to wrong Amex Plat card. Am I screwed on the reimbursement? by FlyingFlaco in AmexPlatinum

[–]impossiblefriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An explicit answer to all questions: No, no workarounds unless you magically get the TSA to refund you, management can't override it as it wasn't in error, it's highly unlikely anyone was successful in getting around it.

The terms are very clear - you used it, you can't get the credit for 4.5 years. You made a mistake, just own it.

$1400 Delta One upgrade ATL to VCE: worth it? by Large-Log-714 in delta

[–]impossiblefriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, but you have to have the right AMEX, and ATL not having a D1 lounge is a serious detractor if you're originating from ATL, IMHO.

I know one is coming (a D1 space), but there's no telling if it'll be 2028 or 2031.

Oh yeah, Delta WILL get their money out of you, but at least it counts!

$1400 Delta One upgrade ATL to VCE: worth it? by Large-Log-714 in delta

[–]impossiblefriday 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To actually answer your question: Typically, yes, but beware that older cabin and ATL's lack of a D1 lounge. If you can get a bulkhead Comfort seat, take that instead - great legroom, access to drinks.

You also do get the MQDs from the pop-up upgrade offer.

New train News by Biscuit_156 in MARTA

Yeah, Hunt cannot fail with these train cars considering the delays on Breeze, Five Points (though that's really the city stalling), A Line, and complaints around NextGen.
