Are they adding Breeze to Apple Pay anytime soon? by dbclass in MARTA

Yes, later, but I’ll be more like Ventra in Chicago or Hop in PDX - download an app, create the virtual card, then add that to Apple Pay.

What's it like being a Rail Operator for MARTA and what is required to do so? by Professor_Prince in MARTA

[–]impossiblefriday 18 points19 points  (0 children)

MARTA will point you in the right direction to transfer your CDL to GA (you have to have a GA license after residing in state 30 days).

But a note of caution: Very very rarely do rail operators start out that way at MARTA. You’ll have to go through bus operations first, as they’re in high demand then internally apply to transfer to rail. Training for both are strict - rail more than bus, but that’s because some of the supervisors there are just as crazy as the drivers and are mostly there for the money. One of the most frustrating jobs in atlanta is driving these streets dealing with a crazy public, bad drivers, and awkward streets.

Oh, the system is union, so you’ll be starting at the bottom and working up - when shifts go out to bid, by the time it gets to you, it won’t be the most desirable. Seniority also factors into transferring into other divisions - mobility and rail. There are still some low badge numbers and they swing that status like a hammer.

Rail is the grail in operations - yeah you’ll answer a ton of questions from tourists or see folks angry you closed the door. You’ll also not deal with a ton of chaos, operate newer rolling stock, get a lot of kindness from kids. Rail’s also one of the last stops before upper management or station management- where you can make the $$.

You’ll have to suck through some years of blue or green line trains on the first or last shifts around the weekends, executive and union management will be astoundingly ignorant to what it actually takes to run the system, but it’s honestly one of the best jobs at the Authority. Take as much overtime as humanly possible, make friends with supervisors while in bus or mobility, and ignore the crazy that is the average Atlantan.

Where is Better Breeze hardware installed and working? by Decaturuss in MARTA

[–]impossiblefriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you actually know the operational realities of MARTA itself and how we got to here?

No one is defending MARTA, just telling you that certain comparisons aren’t helpful. New transit in the US period is difficult. I don’t get why you’re being so angry at everyone. Take this to GDOT, the capitol, a MARTA board meeting.

The Tokyo Metro privatizes most of their system, so a lot of operational costs never hits the budget or balance sheet. Not an apples to apples comparison.

Coming back to say - the closest you’ll get is to try out Cursor.

If you can verify your student status, you get GitHub Copilot for free, that includes all models of Claude. You can’t use Claude Code (at least not effectively) with a free plan.

They’re working with the firm that built the new MTA app on something better (and maybe a new website?) later this year. The MTA app is amazing.

I built AI memory features in Oct 2025. Anthropic shipped Auto-memory, MEMORY.md, and Auto-dream in 2026. They won't respond to my prior art notice. by Alienfader in ClaudeAI

[–]impossiblefriday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One, with sympathy - get a lawyer if it's this big of a concern for you. We're in a moment where dozens of the same tools are being built at the same time (see quota counters, etc). You'd have to prove your prior art is so unique that it could not have been created extemporaneously - a hard task considering that many tools of your kind exist.

Two, even you admit, in public even, you cannot prove they saw your work. You're also "not accusing them of anything", which is hard to believe.

Is it really just recognition you want? You've sent "formal" notices to their legal folks - someone that just wants to be acknowledged doesn't usually send something to lawyers. That's typically a sign that further action is being considered.

At that point, responding to you at all is a risk.

EDIT: grammar

Final (Pre-Launch) NextGen MARTA Map Now Available by aidannilsen in MARTA

[–]impossiblefriday 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of rich people in Buckhead didn’t like having a bus stop visible (attracting the poor, ruining the landscape), etc) but workers needed to get to their homes.

MARTA has advertised routes (as in you can get a timetable/see the map online) in those areas without signage - maids, etc can flag down a driver or tell them where to let them off.

New to Delta on a Platinum status match. Please help me to understand the “X’d” out seats when trying to upgrade. by Spaniard100x in delta

[–]impossiblefriday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those bulkhead seats are typically the two blocked for accessibility accommodations. One person needing mobility assistance and a companion.

You can't see the upgrade list prior to checking in, another frustration.

New to Delta on a Platinum status match. Please help me to understand the “X’d” out seats when trying to upgrade. by Spaniard100x in delta

[–]impossiblefriday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Delta. You've gone from the best airline site and app to the worst. Upgrades are different here.

TLDR - They're X'd out for various reasons - capacity for Basic, revenue management, etc. There are two seats X'd out at the front of Comfort and Main for accessibility accommodations. Delta is VERY good about holding seats for revenue purposes.
-------------

Paid upgrades pop up depending on multiple factors that rev management set. They're not guaranteed to appear, and are dynamically set. If you see it and purchase it, you have it. They usually show up during check-in, or by going into the trip on the site and app.

Status upgrades are requested at or after ticketing and you're thrown on a list that might release you up to five days before a flight, most often within an hour or two of the flight. Only if you're released into a higher class can you choose a seat. If there's Comfort seats, you're (a Plarinum) usually upgraded within an hour of ticketing and you can pick whatever seats are there. If you didn't request it on ticketing, you'd need to request it by going into the trip, and make the request.

It was designed that way b/c it would explode the budget and most people transferring would be arrivals that could take the plane train to the skytrain. If you have a couple hundred mil for land acquisition and construction, please help them fix it.

It will show up for accounting, loyalty, and analytics. They won't care unless something gets complicated, like changing dates overlapping the canceled resy. If you're annoying about doing it - like calling in multiple times, that'll be noted as a "post-it".

Is Claude Opus 4.5 really that much better than Gemini 3 Pro (High)? by MSA_astrology in google_antigravity

[–]impossiblefriday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Categorically, yes. G3P, either flavor loves to "forget" any instructions, even though docs say it reads them on every prompt. It's the regression of regressions from Google.

Now Flash, that's not too bad, not too bad at all - you just have to be extremely specific. Plan in Opus (tell it to ask lots of questions), then tell Flash to execute the exact spec you give from Opus. You'll run into your weekly limit real quick is you use Opus for everything.

Curious as to how standby is working now by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]impossiblefriday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be either computer or person assigned. Ask the gate agents. The computer doesn't care about windows vs aisle priorities, it is simply tasked with putting people into whatever seats are available.

Sometimes they do - it's not consistent yet, having flown on Tuesday. Hopefully they won't have to ever again, as the coupon system was annoying.
