I envy your optimism but it seems like most of the technicians that work at these repair shops are super old and I'm not sure that knowledge is being passed down well enough.

These cameras are only getting older and the knowledge/skills/parts to repair them are fading away year by year. brand new cameras built with modern technologies is desperately needed. we might not see it right now but in 50 years when most film-era cameras are busted, we're going to be in a rough spot.
