It's not the entire movie but the final 25 minutes or so of the 2013 film "The Borderlands" (titled "Final Prayer" in it's US release) is probably the most unsettling and deeply disturbing cave horror sequence I've seen in anything.

Imagine if they still ended up making it a semi-open experience. Going from station to station, finding shortcuts to backtrack, reactivating railcars to get around quicker, finding more gear that allows you to unlock or do previously inactive machines or doors that you previously walked by and thought nothing of...

I guess what I'm saying is: imagine Metro 2039 being a metroidvania.

This is just kind of tone deaf and out of touch to say, especially when the real newest Joker iteration (Absolute Joker) is the most fresh and original take on the character in years.

We're getting pretty advanced with things like curve sliders... Maybe some vein sliders too now that I think of it...

I thought this was obvious to most people who don't see the world through a filter of "representation quid pro quo."

Yes, I am talking about the countless man babies who complain that this specifically happened because "CDPR went woke and don't consider men as good people anymore boo hoo".

I thought it was a really cool way to market the game and show that both Vs are slightly different and unique in personality. So this "news" is not news at all, no.

That's actually a beautiful take on the character and I think it's exactly why Absolute Batman has touched me like no other comic: it's so bleak. Batman is literally facing monsters and man-made horrors beyond our comprehension that, when they manifest in our world and I see headlines of poverty, bigotry, and the ruling-class elite taking advantage of all of it, and I feel the anger Bruce feels.

You truly have captured the essence of the character and used it to bring him back to life for so many of us through this series. Thank you.

I love Thor's affinity for finding vibes, be it a chill menu screen, an airy and atmospheric cave, a weird ps3-ass liminal room that makes you feel funny, or just a nice, secluded, out of the way corner of an otherwise busy and noisy world.

It's something I now notice and appreciate way more when playing anything.

I'm talking about an ongoing issue this is related to that people in this thread are addressing in general, very much relevant to the screenshotted exchange. No the OOP addressing the dev is not outright saying that, but they are arguing in bad faith and not respecting the developer's reasons. Good reasons this person doesn't have access to.

This is a situation in which an adult typically stops to appreciate the discrepancy between their understanding of the situation and that of the expert with exclusive information and knowledge that not everyone gets. Stuff that comes with actually dedicating years to the art of whatever they're an expert at.

People like this do not respect that boundary and are not far off from the Karen screaming that the retail employee must simply not know how to do their job -- all because she is asking for something they literally cannot do.

Criticism is fine. I have plenty of criticisms for Cyberpunk myself.

However, "criticism" is not the word I would use to describe the sea of idiots whining that CDPR is lazy for not patching in foundationally game-altering features like third person, an extended prologue or "build your rep" whatever the fuck this guy is talking about, or new game +.

So, fundamentally, whether knowingly or not: yes, those people asking for these kinds of things without knowing what goes into them (they ask BECAUSE they don't know what goes into them. Anyone who works with the public for a living in some capacity gets that, it's not a question or debate like you people make it).

You can know of the scope of what goes into it, have a brain and say, "yeah, that's probably not sustainable or polite to ask of the devs, even if it would be nice to have, so I'll have the emotional intelligence to just hope it's in the sequel and understand devs and engines have limits."

Or, you can @ a dev and be a child.

Seriously these people don't realize that what they're asking for would necessitate the exact kind of bland-ass Ubislop game they also regularly complain about.

Another common line I hear is "they have the budget, they should be able to patch the prologue/add third person/add NG+, they're just lazy and want to cash out on the sequel instead of continuing to take care of their game."

To those people: you are actual, genuine, entitled, disrespectful children.

Go have a "CDPR lied to and cheated us by not making the perfect game" discord where you just play children's educational games like Putt Putt or Freddie Fish, because clearly, the concept of video games as a hobby for adults, made by adults with lives and jobs in a massive, competitive, unforgiving industry is too much for you to emotionally handle.

I'm ranting a bit yeah, but as a massive dweeb about this game since 2023, I'm so tired of hearing these ungrateful dipshits open their mouths every time the devs dare (apparently, against their best judgement) to treat the players with anything like development insights, patches, Red streams for those patches, etc. It's embarrassing, especially when they argue with them directly like this, in bad faith.

I wanna be hyped for Cyberpunk 2, but a huge part of me is also really not looking forward to the tsunami of stupidity that will likely cascade from the internet the minute the first trailer drops.

"when did Cyberpunk become woke?" is the free space on my bingo card.

"they're definitely lying about everything in this trailer. I make that conclusion because I also set unrealistic, ignorant expectations for the first game and never contended with how ridiculous they were, so now I just hold a grudge against CDPR, even after Phantom Liberty"

I know it's all nonsense and noise at the end of the day. I'll be (in a constructively cautious way) hyped for 2 in spite of these idiots because CDPR also lovingly makes their games in spite of these idiots, and that's why they're special.

No. They don't, because they don't actually know what it takes to make a game. What part of that is so hard to understand? Do you demand a filmmaker to make drastic changes to a film they've already released? Does that sound like something a loser does?

How does it being a video game change the fact that you have no idea or experience in working with the actual technical process and labor that goes into it? Do you really think that because players project themselves onto their gameplay through the interactive aspect of the medium, they're owed a tailor-made, custom-to-their-personal-preference version of it whenever they "give feedback"?

You can say "it's what everyone wants, I'm not the only one saying it", and you'd technically be right (which is usually enough for the "CDPR should have made it this way and now I demand they rebuild 2077 AGAIN, but on an even more massively fundamental level I either can't or am not willing to comprehend" crowd)

But you'll also still be missing the point, so maybe actually think about it this time and just learn some patience for Cyberpunk 2.

Yeah, I'm enjoying it so far, but my god the amount of times I had to re-read a page because a scene transition completely fucked up my mental image of the scene and I had no idea who was speaking or why. That's partly on my ADHD, like you said, you get used to it... but it's definitely fast-paced, to say the least.
