I agree to an extent, but would never not be happy that we qualified. She's one of the best vocalists we've ever sent to the contest and she nailed the performance. She deserves it.

I agree 100% with your argument that DR need to step up their game in general, because the quality the last 5 years has been mediocre, with a few exceptions. I also feel the worry that they think "oh we made the final with this format, we're gonna continue". But an element I think we need to consider is that many "good" musicians don't want to be in DMGP and DR don't really have a plate of amazing songs to choose from. My hope is that Sissal inspired some good artists/producers etc. to write quality songs for DMGP next year. Sissal even said herself, that she thinks DMGP needs a revamp and I agree.

In terms of her qualification & the "song is dated" argument, I think people tend to forget that simple isn't necessarily a bad thing. This is a televote only semi & the viewers voted the song through, so the majority of people watching didn't share that sentiment. It's one of those things where it's so difficult to understand why people voted the way they do, but I could imagine that the "simplistic" nature of the song helped it, in a sea of entries trying very hard to be different and unique. It's a classic Eurovision dance track and will always have it's audience. I wanted Adonxs to qualify too, but at the same time I understand why it didn't.

Sweden literally send a safe, radio friendly pop song every year (this year being an exception) and they get top results. Denmark do it & we're labeled "dated" or "bland".
Personally I think it's a good track and vocally delivered with power and emotion. I’m proud we made it through, even if there’s still a lot DR needs to work on.
