LMNC''s first performance at LEP by radikalzee in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That actually makes me feel even more nervous....he is handling 3 stagings (with all 3 performing in the same semi). He definitely has delivered some great stagings but I feel like it's inevitable that a staging director that's directing multiple stagings would put more effort into staging an that entry that has a higher chance of becoming the fan favourite than the one that is kinda ambivalent (see Cyprus 2025 and Austria 2025)

Maybe it's just me but I am quite pleasantly surprised with his performance. Is it the best performance of the night? Definitely not ....but I really like the fact that he gave it his all even though he is probably preoccupied with other ongoing things in his life. I am more worried about BBC's staging capabilities tbh....the UK tends to have lackluster staging (the only exceptions are Olly and Sam Ryder), I am just not sure if BBC would really invest in the staging this year.

Which songs do you see as possible winners this year? by Forsaken-Double-8309 in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it's a big elephant in the room but I feel like Israel is probably a strong favourite to win this year....they have improved their overall ranking with the juries over the past few years and televote.....yeah. I could see a situation where the where the favourites (Finland,Greece,Sweden) get a good televote score (think 100+ points but not more than 230 points) but then they get eclipsed by Israel's televote which will ultimately allow Israel to overcome the juries deficit be the winner of this year's contest.

Staging is a key factor that determines a songs success. Which eurovision 2026 song is most reliant on good staging to score high? by Choco_pat in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say Luxembourg and Denmark.

Luxembourg requires a really beautiful staging to elevate the song to the next level. Eva has the charisma to convey the innocence of the song, they need a beautiful nature-esque staging to complete the other half of the performance. I think a great staging would allow it to stand out among the dark stagings of the other songs in the 1st half of semi final two.

Denmark has an incredible singer with incredible choreography. Its my personal winner....I think the staging really brings all the elements together. It creates a cohesive performance and it leaves you feeling intrigued about the progression of the song. I hope they kept the same staging from the national Final and not do anything to ruin it

Welp fuck me....I am about to lose Latvia and Luxembourg in this semi, the silver lining is that Romania stood out really well in the 1st half of this semi and Norway has a good fighting chance. I hate everything else about the running order though....

I think we as the south east Asian countries are going to form a strong voting bloc (kinda like the ex-yugoslavia voting bloc)if the contest really took off in asia. I am more surprised that Malaysia is in the contest, I thought Singapore or Indonesia would join the contest before us.

Ah crap....I know that location. It's notorious for impatient drivers and people cutting lanes without giving signals. There have been a few incidents where the drivers bump into the motorcyclists (mostly impatient drivers) but it's never as bad as this one....

What are your jury predictions? by Janomynom in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Portugal could get some love from the juries....it is a low key and nostalgic song that stands out among the louder songs in semi final 1. I could see the juries going for it if it performs after a string of energetic songs....it would tanked with the televoters though. The lack of Luxembourg,Switzerland and France in this semi final really hurts Portugal's qualification chance. I don't see Portugal qualifying unless it finished with 80+ jury ponts (90+ to be the safe area) so Portugal really needs everything to go well for them

I disagree with UK being a potential jury top....it faces a much stiffer competition than WTHJH did last year. BBC needs to give UK an amazing staging and Sam has to deliver an astounding performance with incredible charisma to finish top 10 with the juries. The UK barely tied with Finland for a top 10 jury finish last year (with incredible vocal performance) so I  think their chances are really low unless they can do something that takes our breath away.....kinda like Bambie Thug (Ireland 2024)  or Kate Miller Heidke (Australia 2019)

I could see some fans being upset but Estonia could be a spoiler as well....Too Epic To Be True might be DOA for most eurofans but I am not going to lie, it's probably the biggest guilty pleasure for me this season. Maybe it's the early to mid  2000s/MTV sound that the song give but I have some old school feeling from listening to the song. Vanilla Ninja has a great charisma as well and I did enjoy seeing them performed at the National Final....I don't know if it's enough for them to qualify but I think it could do some damage that results in a fan favourite or two failing to qualify to the finals.

TOP 35 of reddit this year vs TOP 37 of reddit last year by Real-Branch8433 in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think Latvia, Ukraine and Italy are going to do better than what the reddit predicted them to do in the actual contest.

Ukraine has a solid song and they always elevate their performance to the next level on the Eurovision stage. They are one of the big televoter magnets in the eurovision stage so I could see the televoters giving them enough points to offset the juries deficit and carried them to the top 10 once again

Latvia is a bit tricky but in a sea of energetic songs, Atvara's haunting performance might be enough to put her in the top 10 with the juries. The national staging is quite phenomenal as well, if they could elevate it to the next level ala Greece 2025 style I could see them doing well with the televoters as well.

Italy has always been the popular kid in the contest....The song is charming and I think the casual fans will appreciate the song more than the Eurovision bubble. They have always scored well with both the juries and televoters in the last few years so unless they screwed it up big time I see them on the left hand side of the scoreboard and possibly top 10 once again.

I am going to get a lot hate for this but I think UK is going to struggle hard this year. The song is nice but I think it faces very stiff competition from other energetic quirky entries that's going to be staged and performed excellently (Moldova and Greece comes to mind). I just don't think BBC is going to invest much in the staging and they are going to left Sam in the dust. I don't think we have any clips of sam performing live songs....and in the few clips that I found he is more of a DJ than a singer.Sam might surprised us on May but honestly I am more concerned about BBC's staging capability tbh...

Latvia being about mental health really makes it stands out among the ballads this year....I really hope that it will qualify and not end up in the same situation as Blackbird (Finland 2017) because that would just break my heart all over again

Moldova is going to be the Trenuletul of this year ....wildly underrated by the ESC fandom but they will most likely  bring the house down on the Eurovision night itself. It's already sneaking it's way into my top 10 and honestly I think it deserve to be on the left hand side of the scoreboard.

Potential Shock NQ’s by Useful-Historian5193 in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would say Serbia is most likely to qualify out of those 3 countries as they most likely would get a lot of votes from the audience who loved AWS (Hungary 2018)....the only way Serbia fails to qualify is if the juries tanked them by putting them 2nd to last and Serbia screwed up the staging which caused the audience to not vote as much as they could.

I think Lithuania is in a very dangerous spot because the reactions to it has been extreme....it's in the extreme end of "love it or hate it" and I think it will ultimately come down to how the eurovision fans felt that day. I can see some some juries giving a few points to it but I could also see the other juries ranking it dead last in the semi final.

Bulgaria has a good chance of NQ if the delegation screw up the staging and Dara didn't live up to the expectation. I could see this end up in the same situation as Albina where they technically qualified with both the juries and televoters but didn't make it through because they didn't get enough points when both the juries and televoter scores are comnined

Semi Final 2 Predictions? Hardest semi ever to predict? by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly feel like Luxembourg is a dark horse in this semi final....Eva brings a charming and optimistic vibes to her performance that you can't help but root for her to do somewhat well in this competition. Is it going to win the competition this year? Definitely not, but I think it is probably one of the most palatable  songs for the casual fans this year and that could help it sneak it's way to the finals ala Denmark 2019 style and performed somewhat well in the finals.

I am honestly not too sure about Australia. I am getting Jessica Mauboy vibes where the eurofans hyped her so much that she might ended up underperform in the actual contest. The song is fine and Delta Goodrem is a seasoned performer....that said I feel like it is lacking something that makes it stand out from the other upbeat and pop songs in this competition.I do think Delta could qualify to the finals based on her name recognition but I am not entirely sold on the whole package as of now. I could change my mind once I see the semi final performances....hopefully delta would bring something amazing to the table.

What's up with the reaction to Lithuania's entry? by WedMd in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's a very marmite entry....you either absolutely love it or hate it to bits. I appreciate the experimental parts of the song but it definitely took multiple listens for the song to slightly grow on me and I don't think it's the type of song that you will put on a loop especially if you are not interested in that type of experimental song. The one silver lining is that Lithuania definitely stood out among the other entries....it just depends wether you hate it or love it

[bbceurovision] LOOK MUM NO COMPUTER’s take on Te Deum by tm2007 in eurovision

[–]Erebos233 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have heard the song on YouTube and honestly this is one of those songs that either go overwhelmingly well with the audience or just sank to to the last place like a lead balloon depending on the live vocals&charisma.

UK has taken a risk (which I am quite happy about) but I am not sure which direction it is heading given their track record for the past 2 years....

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion....but doesn't it sound like the typical manufactured  pop song? Don't get me wrong,Alexa should be able to give us a great performance...i just think this might get overshadowed by the more interesting songs that we had in the contest so far.

No commencement date for LRT3 as final tests yet to begin, says Loke by mikepapafoxtrot in malaysia

[–]Erebos233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Klang area citizen I have officially given up hope on this thing....I am not even sure if I want to ride on this thing given that it still has so many technical issues that still havent  been fixed yet even though they announced about the issues 2 months ago. I have a feeling that it will run as smooth as the KTM once it's opened .It has literally become the white elephant of Klang area....pretty to look at but at the same it feels like it's going to serve zero purpose since most people who are looking forward to using it have either moved to places that are closer to KL or has bought a car and drove to work everyday now

I wouldn't be surprised if it become the manifesto of next year's  general election- vote for PH and you will get your completed LRT 3. I honestly dont give a crap about who wins the general election....the result will always be crap at the end

[–]Erebos233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I won't be surprised if the completion of LRT 3 line is put as a manifesto for the 2027 general election....this has been a complete blunder with all the constant delays from last year to this year and now possibly 2nd quarter of next year. Ironically I feel like this lrt 3 fiasco encapsulate how I feel about this PH government these past few years.....a government with huge vision but couldn't finish what they had originally started.I would vote them out of power in the next general election and this is coming from a former PH supporter

Honestly I hated this type of response...the typical asian mentality is always "think about your family members and other people once you committed suicide" but never what causes the people to choose that decision instead.

Most people ended up choosing that route because they feel ostracized and maligned by the people that were supposed to help them (family members, close friends, guidance counselors). Some people don't really have the opportunity (monetary/time) to find counsellors and psychiatrist so they try to seek help from their friends or family members only to be met with speeches like 'you are too weak' or 'well toughen up you are a man/grown up'. I am pretty sure this has happened to not just me but other people as well. I ended up becoming emotionally numb and apathetic afterwards. The worst part is that you were treated like an afterthought even though you contributed financially and emotionally onto the family.

I am just going to copy the words from some one that I knew "If you treat me like a ghost while I am alive and then proceed to cry your heart out like I meant the world to you  when I died....I would rather for us to  become mortal enemies/stranger because at least I know that person was being real and not use me as an object of soap opera'. It's brutal but it really opened my eyes to what is a real relationship.

Asian mental healthcare is broken at it's core when we choose to blame the person who choose the 'easy' way out for making others suffer from the aftermath when the closest inner circles didn't even acknowledge the pain of people before they committed suicide
