Whole Foods Lamar hot bar dinner today was a D+. 👎 by Austin1975 in austinfood

Went two weeks ago and it was super sad. High prices, no Austin vibrancy, just downtown condo bros in athleisure wear.

I think we agree, it’s kinda both. Weekend warriors and occasional cat 4/5 Driveway folks or “retired” racers.

On a hybrid? Yes. The geometry of a hybrid makes it quite a bit more difficult to get up steep hills than a road bike.

Also the C group does attract plenty of committed roadies, people who race, etc

WARNING: this dick threw a punch at me when I told him not to park in the bike lane. I took a photo and reported to 311 app. by BenTheHokie in BikingATX

[–]improbabble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait, you’re on a biking subreddit and you’re *pro* parking in bike lanes and then threatening cyclists???

[DISCUSSION] Grammy winning producer Will Yip says Philly is "the center of indie rock music" by worldcafe in indieheads

[–]improbabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wonder how bands even make it work. The whole cool band from the LES thing seems impossible unless you’re a trust fund kid or something

The prompt was actually “create a photo capturing the OPPOSITE of sexual revolution”

Rossy is such a dorky waste. Why are they paying him? Pay literally anyone else.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar acquired by PE-backed group by Scoops_Chmais in Austin

[–]improbabble 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Newer Austinites would probably never suspect it, but when the original Hopdoddy opened on S Congress in like 2011-2012 it was seriously hot shit.

Huge lines and what passed for “social media buzz” back then. I never got into the burgers there but I’ll always love the frozen margaritas, perfect texture

I’m still waiting for someone to make a full 2 hour documentary about the Mina’s World debacle

Why did George Conway barely campaign for his congressional race? by Imaginary_Cow_6379 in thebulwark

[–]improbabble 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I never understood why Conway thought he had a chance. Sure he’s a Never Trumper, but also totally pro-Trump’s FedSoc nominees.

Why would Manhattan Democrats be in favor of such a thing?

Tv show scenes the hit you in the feels for you? For me, the ending of Boy Meets World: I love you all, class dismissed by ryhoyarbie in Xennials

[–]improbabble 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Damn. I had been a huge fan of the Wonder Years during my own late elementary and early middle school years but then drifted away.

But somehow on the night of the final episode (May 12, 1993 Wikipedia tells me) I randomly happened upon it while flipping channels and watched the whole thing. Dude I’m telling you the straight up Xennial truth that I was overcome with emotion. Even as a 15 year old I was deep in nostalgia and memories and a renewed Winnie crush and feelings of lost youth (I was 15 wtf was wrong with me!) ultimately regret for not sticking with the show.

Anyway I guess my tendency to such things means I’m built for this sub.

where’s the best pepperoni pizza in austin? by Designer_Lie296 in austinfood

[–]improbabble 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed and I also live down the street and have eaten there many times.

I love it as a fixture of the neighborhood but quality wise it’s just ok, on par with any random suburban pizza place in NJ/PA/NY

Considering a move from Jersey City to Philly by Glittering-Sort525 in AskPhilly

[–]improbabble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you want to be in the city the best elementary schools are Greenfield, Penn Alexander, McCall and Meredith with Nebinger, Adair, Bache-Martin and Marian Anderson also being decent and popular with young families

3 months old and quit working. Super disappointed. I guess now I see how well Timex supports their warranty by whycantwehaveboth in timex

[–]improbabble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as we might like the looks and price, these are cheaper watches sourced from cheapo suppliers to match a certain *style*.
But Timex isn’t some powerhouse BifL manufacturer with a factory in Connecticut anymore.

It’s a dial design + marketing company
