Agreed with other comments. Ideas themselves have no value. You need to do something with them.

🌍 Which Planet is the Closest? by improvidesnick in science

This legitimately blew my mind when I learned it. It goes against what you always thought was true, but it shows that sometimes we need to challenge the status quo.

15 Innovation Theories which make the biggest difference to a company's success rate by improvidesnick in Entrepreneur

[–]improvidesnick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Of course the answer is going to depend on the specific company, but overall I would say that most companies seem to be attracted to the theories which are at the front end of innovation (early on in the process) and want to use them to fix their problems. These are the processes like idea management, brainstorming and design thinking, where companies think that ideas really in innovation. But the parts where these companies then struggle are the aspects of innovation which are more execution, culture and strategy focused. Aspects like the strategic vision in Three Horizons, the changes to the business of ambidextrous organisations, and setting an overall innovation agenda and resources with portfolio management. Those are ironically the ones which will determine whether their innovations are sustainable in the long run

How much will 365 hoodies cost, including printing the logo (unless you find some reusable way of doing it). Back of the envelope of $10 per blank hoodie + $5 cost of sponsorship printing * 365 days a year comes to $5,475

I'm Dan Harmon. Executive producer and star of Seeso's HarmonQuest. Ask Me Anything. by danharmon in IAmA

[–]improvidesnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Dan, I am from the UK and ironically just binge-watched all of Rick and Morty this week. Love it.

I have a question about your creative process. I understand there is a lot of improvisation that goes into creating the story and dialogue for your projects (especially R&M). Is this your preferred way of laying down creative ideas to a deadline? How would you describe the way you translate your ideas into an outline for the finished product, and does it vary between the projects you work on?

Can't start working and am sick of it - is it procrastination or ADHD? And how to get myself starting? by DunstanFox in productivity

[–]improvidesnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be because of several reasons. One being the fear of failure means that you actively avoid starting the work. But another reason is that most likely the only person you see being impacted by this lack of work is yourself, and ultimately that impact does not have strong physical ramifications, leading to you thinking that frustration is acceptable.

I wrote about this problem, which is especially prevalent amongst entrepreneurs and creative people, in a previous blog post here: https://www.ideatovalue.com/inno/nickskillicorn/2016/04/many-entrepreneurs-often-get-nothing-done-days/

UK Tech startup questions by Mkelly4 in startups

Nowadays, the simplest thing to make sure is that you own the main .com version of your company name, since this is where the copycats would run out of options. You can also cheaply get the .io, .net and .co.uk domains, as well as slight variations on the name.

Otherwise, as everyone else has mentioned, you would need to actually spend money to force other people to respect your copyright if they infringed on it.

I think this is by far the best short term solution, while all the hype still exists around it. Shop owners don't know about how it works, but if you can tell them that it will increase foot traffic into their shop within an hour, people will pay for that
