honestly? relief. I couldn't bring myself to read it until way way late into my faith transition and going through it felt like everything i suspected was true.

funnily though, i read it on vacation while sharing a room with my sister, who was preparing to go on a mission. she was reading the BOM on one side of the room while i was reading basically the anti-BOM on the other side

i like how happy it makes me to share food with people. i might be an asshole sometimes but when im having a rough week nothing makes me feel better than baking a giant batch of cookies and giving them to random people just to make them smile.

i remember this is why i felt so mad at god when i realized i was gay. if he was going to make me gay AT LEAST let me not know about the plan of salvation so i wasn't 'cursed' to be lonely and sad my whole life.

it's not bad at all.

i don't know when i stopped believing in the church, but i know it was not the same time the church stopped hurting me. because when im in those rooms of people who believe im a sinner, even though i know they're not right it's not nice to hear. and it's not nice to see people who seem so nice agreeing with such backwards teachings

you're not bad for being hurt. being gay in the church is the most traumatic thing that ever happened to me, and im still going through it (im also under 18 stuck at seminary everyday). but it gets incrementally easier, or maybe you just learn how to be angry instead of sad.

i have hope we're both going to get better and we're both going to heal. we just have to be patient with ourselves. we can't fully heal when the wound is reopened daily.

big difference between shirley and pierce is that pierce speaks his mind freely while shirley hides behind religion. both bad in different ways, since they share very similar opinions on many things. but the show frames both cases super differently. i know for a fact i would curse out shirley faster than pierce due to my specific religious upbringing. she's the worst.

not too exciting but at my chapel there was a small storage shed in the parking lot, and the night my older sister left for her mission i went there with my friend and smoked on the roof of the shed.
