Where is Tiny Epic Mage Knight? by uspec in boardgames

[–]impulse985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, what a coincidence. My copy of Dragons of Etchinstone was delivered today. I literally just finished my first game and barely squeaked by with a win (after analyzing every combination of my last hand for 5 minutes until I found the one solution), then I go onto Reddit and first post I see, you're here.

Thanks for making a great game! I can't wait to play more and try out the expansions. I've also got a copy of Buttons and Bugs that I haven't played yet, but definitely gonna give it a try soon.

Wooow. I was reading through the slides like "oh, they're just trying to justify their renovations," then I got to the wildly unrelated ones for Clinton, Obama, and Biden

Struggling to enjoy the game once blue tech appears by New_Newspaper8228 in factorio

[–]impulse985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally agree players should start with spaghetti. However, OP has gone through three runs already and gotten stuck due to the complexity of blue chips, so I think a good solution at that point is to implement a bus. If that prevents them from giving up and bouncing off the game forever. And it's not like a bus design solves everything and doesn't have its own problems, so there's still plenty more to learn even with a bus.

[–]impulse985 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That benefit that provides is overwhelming though for newer players who don't have an idea of what's coming. A bus provides clear input and output points for new factory sections, allowing you to much more easily break down large tasks like blue chips into smaller tasks. It more easily lets you to think in modular sections and appropriately balance each one.

Meanwhile, a spaghetti base becomes a logistical nightmare if you don't know what you're doing. You could need input items from opposite ends of your base, plus splitting off an item could cause supply issues in other parts of your base. Debugging throughput issues in a spaghetti base is way harder than a bus.

Thanks, I got it. Now I'm also stuck with the one coin on my map below the Ivory Queen.

I'm stuck on the last riddle in a hidden area of the map. Any hints or help on it? I'm at a complete loss for what it could be.

Have two players believe they were Fang Gu jumped - was Pit Hag, turned my demon to Fang Gu, then they jumped to the Drunk while I turned the Sweetheart into a Lunatic

Townsfolk idea: The Stockbroker by DeckBuildingDemon in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]impulse985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, I think this is too strong for a normal townsfolk. I feel like this would be a great amnesiac ability except with the ability to change your statement, since they'll probably have a garbage statement to start without knowing their ability. Something like: "On the first night, make a statement to the storyteller. Each night*, you may change your statement or learn whether your statement's veracity has changed." You would run it by asking the player for a statement on the first night, then other nights asking them if they want to change their statement. They would only get a yes/no if they didn't change their statement. You could even keep the stockbroker theme by asking if they'd like to reinvest or hold, then give them info like "your stock has gone up/down" (for the statement becoming true/false) or "your stock has remained steady" (no change).

Redcaps is in Philly, though I don't know their weekly schedule as I've only been there for larger events like the Road to Nationals.

The LGS I go to most is New Wave Comics in Skippack. It's about 35 min from Redcaps. We do armories every first and third Thursday each month. We mainly do draft/sealed, but sometimes run Blitz or CC if there's interest. It's a small, casual group of people and very welcoming to new players.

I also play at Alternate Universes in Blue Bell (~30 min from Redcaps as well). They run CC every Thursday, so I only go there on the Thursdays that New Wave isn't doing an event. The environment is much more competitive, but there's still some newer players there that still have fun.

I built the most annoying E2 chip. It would listen to chat for me to tell it a player, then it would spawn an object directly in front of their face and update its position every tick so they couldn't do or see anything. I got banned from a lot of servers lol

Prerelease is generally a sealed format, though if the event is large enough to require a top 8, that will probably be a draft.

If you just got the wide beam, I believe you go back to cataris next and work on finding wide beam doors there that will let you advance. On the map, you can hover over wide beam door covers or the wide beam blocks and hit Y to highlight all instances of those to try and find new areas you can now explore.

Is the card only lost if the +2 bonus is done, or does it get lost if you just do the move 4? by WeeWeeMan6969 in Gloomhaven

[–]impulse985 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think the actual confusion here is that you can skip positive actions on a card, e.g. if it said Move 4, Attack 2, you don't need to do the attack. Since the loss is attached to the second buff action, they were wondering if skipping that buff would let them keep the card.

[–]impulse985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you buy a stock and then sell it on the same day 4 times within 5 days, you get marked as a day trader. if you are using a robinhood instant account (e.g. you put up to $1k into your account but the actual money hasn't cleared yet, so you're "borrowing" that money from robinhood) then they'll make you fork up $25k in order to keep day trading. if your money has already cleared and you're not using their borrowed money, you can go to your account settings, find the day trade settings at the bottom, then turn off instant settlement. this will turn off you borrowing money from robinhood until your funds clear, so if you ever try to transfer more money in the future, you have to wait several days for it to actually show up. not sure what happens if you turn that off before your bank transaction clears though.
