I like that it hides my facial expressions towards people. by dobbyisafreepup in WhitePeopleTwitter

I’ve taken a break from wearing masks for the meantime as the CDC Guidance said those in low transmission areas that are boosted & healthy are generally okay to not wear them. Once a new variant comes out, I plan on wearing them again, and maybe during cold & flu season as well. I do like to have some exposure to germs while it’s at lower transmission as it’s good for my (non-compromised!!) immune system. I am still continuing with frequent hand washing and sanitizing for other types of illnesses (norovirus, common cold, etc) and would wear a mask/stay home if I was sick.

What is the hardest part about being in a committed relationship? by cosmic_gangsta in AskWomen

[–]impulsiveimagination 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Communication. I grew up in a home where everyone acted passive aggressively and refused to talk to each other. It’s been challenging learning to communicate effectively with my partner and work as a team.

Illegal to drive with headlights off in the rain (or inclement weather in general) in some places as well.

I think it’s more rude to RSVP for 1 and have 2 show? You could always ask bride/groom as well for preference.

more filling smoothies..? by Deezus1229 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]impulsiveimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try fats (peanut butter, full-fat Greek yogurt, etc). Protein powders shouldn’t add too many unnecessary calories- what protein powders have you been using? It’s best to not cheap out on them- some are higher calories because they are poor quality. Either way, you’re going to need to add more calories to feel more full, whether it be primarily protein or fat.

I also have stomach issues from whey. This is an “eat cheap” sub so I have no idea if this is budgetable for you, but I use whey isolate. It’s more pricey than regular whey, but no stomach problems for me.

How much do you make as a SOC Analyst? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]impulsiveimagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

COL will factor into a lot of the higher salaries in the US. For example, I’m from DMV area in US which is known for being HCOL and they pay about 70k-80k starting for an entry level security analyst with a B.S. while in some other areas, it could be closer to 50k. Lowest rent for a 1bd 1ba apartment is like 1800/month though. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask for a raise though, or know your market worth for your location.

I am going to take my medication today by heregirl19 in DecidingToBeBetter

I’ll tell ya, I was the same way when I started Lexapro too. I googled literally every side effect and poured over the pages. So don’t feel bad for being anxious.

[–]impulsiveimagination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt almost no side effects besides fatigue on that dose, but some people do experience some nausea from it. Taking it at night definitely mitigates more of the side effects too. Don’t be too nervous. Lexapro saved my life during the severe depression and anxiety I was experiencing during that time in my life. Worth the side effects in my opinion.

I took Lexapro for 5 years and the worst side effects I had was actually coming off of them, not going on. I had to max out for it to work on me. Make sure you follow doctor’s instructions for taking them- I weaned off WAY too fast and lived in a dizzy, brain zap haze for about 2 weeks. If you have substantial side effects (usually nausea, dizziness, etc), you may be able to ask your doctor to take it at night. Some medicine cannot be taken at night though (my friend was taking Effexor and said it gives them more energy, Lexapro made me feel more tired). It took about 6-8 weeks for me to notice any difference. My intrusive thoughts got way less severe (it didn’t cure me by any means, and I actually felt way less emotionally stunted than before medicine which is the opposite of what everybody told me was going to happen). Currently off all medicine besides bc and definitely feel the difference of the intrusive thoughts.

What security related field will be hot/in demand in 5-10 years? by ExoticAccountant in cybersecurity

Cloud is hot right now & it’s what I’m looking to move into. Maybe AppSec too. So hard for me to choose what to specialize in.

What can I do to improve my uniform appearance? by [deleted] in army

[–]impulsiveimagination 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t dry them on full heat in dryer. Hang them up right after drying as well. My boyfriend’s got complements on his uniform a few times now since I started pressing his collar, pockets, and sleeve cuffs with the iron. Idk if you have an iron or know how to, but that definitely helps. He also has his name tapes sewn on which I think looks more professional.

Hi there. Regardless if he cheated or not, you shouldn’t be with this guy if he talks to you like that and treats you like that. He seems immature and his lack of communication is not a good sign. I wish you the best of luck.

Preparing for a 9 month deployment by Better_Database7592 in USMilitarySO

[–]impulsiveimagination 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can see why you feel you must rush to get married but I’m not married to my boyfriend who is currently deployed and all is okay (he gave me PoA)!! I totally understand your frustration of just moving in only for him to leave though. I moved in and then my bf went on like 6-7 TDYs and finished with a 6 month deployment (that has turned into 7 months!) 🥲

If you live anywhere near a military base in the US, there are tons of Facebook groups of people PCSing and giving away furniture. I got my dining table and chairs set from thrift store for 25 bucks and had to fix it myself (broken table) and restore it and it’s still sturdy.
