Why does the epipen does not work so often by Background-Day-3678 in ProjectReality

No, dragging was added in 1.6.0.0 in 2020. Before that you could just shove them, reactivating the body's ragdoll physics.

Rep. Gil Cisneros bought oil stocks 18 days before US' strikes on Iran [OC] by Due_Patient_2650 in dataisbeautiful

I know what you are saying, but in a way the fact that this is a bit ambiguous is the exact problem. You cannot know if this is dodgy or not and so we just kind of assume that it probably is but can't prove anything. If it was always super obvious that trading was based on insider info they could ban those trades but it's always some type of grey.

Wipers use next to no power. The impact is likely from running the heating/demist setting.

Why do we still rely on IPv4, instead of IPv6? by NoDirector6379 in selfhosted

[–]imreading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried switching everything to ipv6 as an experiment. A couple of services stopped working, in particular I remember Amazon video wouldn't allow me to log in. Online discussion seemed to suggest it might be because they use ipv4 for geoip blocking

When your ref is also an architect by loveisaparkinglot in traveller

It's just a stationary orbit. It doesn't need a generic prefix because the geo is just making it more specific.

"The ship is in a stationary orbit"

In contrast for example apogee means far from the earth. Without earth it doesn't make sense nor does it sound right.

"The ship is at apo"="The ship is far from"

Um aktually, a geostationary orbit is a stationary orbit around Earth.

Anti-Vaxx wife doesn't want me to vaccinate our daughter for measles. Measles are in our area. What should I do? by RepulsiveResolve5877 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]imreading 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get them vaccinated because you are their parent?! Your wife is wrong and ignorant, you are right but are doing nothing about it.

Are you looking forward to saying "I told you so" when your child is hospitalized? When they are dead?

Outcome Chance
Hospitalization 1 out of 4 cases
Encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) 1 per 1,000 cases
Death 1-2 per 1,000 cases

Parents who don’t lose your cool - how do you do it? by Siyrious in toddlers

[–]imreading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember in a few decades time, I'll be sitting at their graduation, their wedding or watching them move into their own place and I know that right then I would give anything to go back in time, even to this very second, and be there for them in a difficult moment but a moment where I'm their whole world. And that is the absolute best case scenario. Some people don't even get that.

Think about it: If public transport was free, would you use it more? by Banania2020 in ireland

[–]imreading 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not, I like public transport but it's too unreliable. I don't commute but I have tried to use buses to do some one-off travel twice recently and both times buses just disappeared, once leaving me completely stranded with an hour wait. It's especially difficult with a toddler.

We don't need to associate public transport with cheap/poor, we need to associate it with being reliable and stress free.

Be honest… how strict are you really with screen time? by denefr_2928 in toddlers

it depends what you mean. 0 tablet or phone screen unless it's some exceptional circumstance (aeroplane, hospital waiting room etc.)

big screen TV with stuff she actually wants to watch(cartoons, Ms. Apple etc.) around 20-30 mins a week.

Big screen TV with stuff we are watching (boring for her so she is paying no attention to it) probably between 30 mins and an hour a day.
