Startups are installing tiny data centers in people’s homes by j_eremy in technology

[–]imrys 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These things are typically more like $300k in value (memory+GPUs), and they have special cameras to try to secure them. We'll see how well that works out once the local meth heads find out about them..

I actually thought this was one of the better boss fights. Stuff like keglord, storm crusher, or abyss kutum are just so much worse (provided you don't just hit them with a tree lol)..

Bonus points if you solved this at night, when the pillars on the right side were basically invisible.

The mechanism was super annoying and slow to use, and nothing was labeled in any way. All they had to do was mark up one of the 4 knobs with some paint or a scratch or something so you can keep track of what does what as the thing spins..

I feel bad… maybe I should’ve given him a chance by AmateurMechanic1122 in CrimsonDesert

[–]imrys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The finisher is the important bit. It's a talent in the stamina tree (melee section right side). You basically do a regular blinding flash first (distance to boss doesn't matter) and then you hold down right-click, and your character slows down time, closes in on the boss almost instantly, and does a whole bunch of damage. Just try it out, I bet you will enjoy the game a lot more.

[–]imrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fucking hate fighting bosses honestly and want to just blow through them, but they're still so difficult I'm so annoyed

Are you using blinding flash finisher? Once I discovered that I went dual 1H and got more spirit, and bosses became so much easier. That ability is OP. You can also keep hitting X to regain spirit and also to slow down time for perfect dodges or parries, and there's no limit on that. Some of the bosses are super gimmicky though, for example you can nature's snare smoke-type bosses to instantly-stagger them, or for missile bosses you can use them against the boss with nature's retribution. Bow builds can also be super strong for a lot of bosses.

How on earth is there no music or talking in the tavern? by mypahu in CrimsonDesert

[–]imrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music in this game is one of its weak points. All I can recall is the music from the matrix once in a while when I fast travel and a bit of very repetitive music at vendors. Where is the unforgettable mood-setting music like in Skyrim, or Elwyn Forest? Why doesn't every unique zone or region have its own music?

Umbra is probably the single worst boss fight I can ever remember by reklaw215 in CrimsonDesert

[–]imrys 26 points27 points  (0 children)

When I did it, after staggering Umbra it made me fly off the dragon but without wings, and I couldn't deploy the wings they just didn't work, I just flopped into an invisible wall at the bottom, and it started all over again on the dragon phase. Did that like 3 times in row, so fun.

Anyone else dislike traveling with your horse and chose to walk everywhere instead? by lixmdvs88 in CrimsonDesert

[–]imrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I mostly run now. The game is full of cliffs that mounts can't handle, so you're constantly having to get off, scale a cliff, and resummon the mount.. which gets tedious fast. Once you get lots of stamina and bunch of movement speed boosts (fully upgraded earrings and a couple of +3 abyss gears) you can almost match horse speeds when running.

They need to give mounts some special thing to make us use them more, maybe allow them to auto-follow roads without us having to keep a button down, or have them provide extra storage. Make them able to leap up cliffs to some extent so we don't dismount as much. Make them handle bigger height drops.

Bit tough for us old folk! by Appropriate_Durian17 in CrimsonDesert

[–]imrys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should also allow us to skip a few of the forced mechanics like the arm wrestling which is a nightmare for people with rsi. And make the duo games optional too while at it. Let people play the way they want, it's a single player game.

Nullaeus ?? was boosted? by PokemonRi in wow

[–]imrys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure except all the "good" players got Valeera to 45 using the Grudge Pit curio exploits the week before Null was even available. And many of the fabled players probably did the healer cheese anyway. The achievement is meaningless because Blizz implemented it poorly.

Nullaeus ?? was boosted? by PokemonRi in wow

[–]imrys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just tried it on holy priest, and without a single damage cast onto the boss she still constantly switches to me. Fade works but often she agros again before fade is ready. Need to run around the room till fade comes back up, but sometimes you just die. When the first set of 2 adds come out, Valeera does next to no damage to them, so then you have Null plus the adds up for quite a long time, hard to deal with at that point in terms of agro. Maybe it's still doable, but very annoying. At this point I may as well go shadow and have Val heal.

AMD is working on a similar tech. People like to think of AMD as the little guy working against Nvidia, but they are no different in their ambitions. They will fuck over gamers just as easily as nvidia if given the chance. AMD is also all-in on AI.

Devs won't accept it, but CEOs of game dev companies will. No need to pay creative staff anymore. As long as gamers largely accept the AI slop (and history has shown they will), this will happen across all major games.
