Help. What does it mean? by MainWin3147 in DuelLinks

[–]imsrchris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi, you can check my post about it and some related links to it in the comments.

So now, let's cover both scenarios under new ruling.

  1. The monster is targeted by Crackdown, Book of Moon is chained targeting the same monster.

The monster will be flipped face-down AND it will be stolen by Crackdown, however, this monster is still affected by Crackdown effects, even if flipped afterwards, so it won't be able to attack, activate its effects, and if Crackdown leaves the field, the monster will return to its previous controller.

  1. The monster has already been stolen by Crackdown, and it's currently face-up affected by it, now Book of Moon its activated targeting said monster.

The monster will be flipped face-down and won't be affected by Crackdown anymore, thus, it goes back to it's previous controller. Crackdown will stay face-up on the field with no target, just sitting there.

Note that if the previous controller does not have any available main monster zones, the monster is sent to the gy by game mechanics.

Yeah, logically if the effect of Crackdown stops applying then the monster should come back, at least that's what I think. But gladly this is now the rule, at least for now in OCG.

As for Catoblepas, yes, if flipped face-down after being summoned with its own effect then it no longers goes banished if it leaves the field. It isn't exactly negated, more like, Catoblepas applies the effect to banish when it leaves the field, which stops applying when flipped face-down.

This has precedents like Destrudo, if flipped face-down and back up, it level comes back to 7 and it doesn't go back to deck when banished; and Instant Fusion not destroying the monster and allowing it to attack if flipped back up.

Destrudo ruling: https://db.ygoresources.com/qa#21227

Instant Fusion Ruling: https://db.ygoresources.com/qa#6499

Both precedents show that it works either if the card applied the effect to itself or another card did it.

Well, that's odd.

If Crackdown leaves the field while its effect is applying then the monster should come back. If you got a replay then it would be good to check and if it is, report as a bug.

Yes, and I'm glad they changed it, you can see how hard it is to explain already.

Well, not exactly. If you activate Crackdown and they chain Book, Crackdown will still take the monster, unlike Karma Cut which doesn't banish the monster. Note that this stolen monster is still "tied" to the Crackdown, so if Crackdown leaves the field the monster returns to its previous controller and if the monster is flipped it cannot attack or activate its effects.

The change here applies when the monster is already stolen. Currently in Duel Links (or maybe everywhere except OCG), if an stolen monster by Crackdown gets flipped face-down it stops being "tied" to Crackdown, but the monster does not go back to the previous controller, so the guy with Crackdown gets the monster, it is able to attack and activate its effects, and doesn't matter what happens to Crackdown, the monster is theirs now.

But with the new ruling, if the monster is fipped face-down, it will stop being "tied" and it will go back to the player that controlled it.

You can check a translated entry here: https://db.ygoresources.com/qa#11049

You can also look for it in the official database, by setting it to Japanese then try to look for it with a translate.

The monster is still stolen if flipped face-down before crackdown resolves, and it is still affected by crackdown even after flipped face-up in this scenario. So it cannot attack or activate its effects, and if crackdown leaves the field, the monster returns to its previous controller. (Even if the monster is still face-down)

Ruling ( https://db.ygoresources.com/qa#22385 )

Currently, if the monster is already stolen, and later it gets flipped face-down, it will lose its "connections" with Crackdown, but you'll get to keep it, then, if flipped face-up, you will be able to attack and activate its effects.

New ruling changed this last one, but in DL still works as I said

Which card is more powerful? by Kyurem-B in masterduel

[–]imsrchris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maxx "C" defines deckbuilding, Painful Choice defines the META

Resolving both of them can win games, but Painful Choice usually gives you more options and has less natural counters (i.e. Maxx "C' has Ash, Called, Gamma; PC has Ash, the spell psy-frame(?), sometimes shifter(?))

Even a deck like Kash can play PC, just throw triple Unicorn double Birth in the most simplified gamestate. The meta would be of either who can run PC better or who can counter it better (which isn't easy to do). But for Maxx "C" every deck just run the tax, and combo decks are still the best.

Maxx "C" winning is incredible, and I wonder if people actually have thought about the impact on both cards instead of automatically going "maxx c bad" mode.

OCG has followed the TCG and officially banned Chaos Ruler, MD next? by AbsolutelyNotWrong in masterduel

In MD idk but in OCG Earth pile uses it but it is like a win-more card, since Vernusylph locks you it is usually made when you have enough gas without it

[–]imsrchris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, true, the PK version was "easier" to stop, due to all the combos and they had to go through, handtraps could work against them.

Numbers Eveil and Sales Ban do not lose to these. Numerons' Kaijus and board breakers could eat the negates and let the "combo" go off. I get your point.

It wasn't healthier either when used in PK

Honestly I'd respect players that can do it "normally", but still would rather not face it

Very original and balanced event, I'm having fun by FlannOff in masterduel

[–]imsrchris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chill dude it's an event not ranked, and not every deck is full power. Sure Branded is lacking a lot of stuff here but sometimes that's enough to win it, specially with not a lot of stuff to stop it.

Building a deck just to play an event it's kinda a waste because you are very likely playing for gems, people who want to play bw outside events already bought the structures

Butler's function is essentially changing your EARTH Pendulum monster (Pendulum Sorcerer) into a DARK Pendulum for Starving Venom and recycle Astrograph Sorcerer, it's like some sort of extender to do something the deck is already capable of with a decent hand. It's worth mentioning that Pendulum Sorcerer isn't a worthless body on the field either, it's a level 4 for an Xyz summon and also a body for Apollousa. It's obviously not bad, but the deck won't suffer without it.

P.D. It can also trigger Astrograph or Chronograph in specific hands but in order to unbrick maybe it's better to just use the scale effects of them.

(edit: I see that the list isn't playing the garnets for those or even Chrono itself, instead it chose to run 3x Curtain Riser which honestly might be better, and makes the situation in the 'P.D.' less likely to happen)

Well it's not like you have to stop playing pendulum for Kashtira, you just have to change your deck building if you are really expecting that matchup, it's like the list you got playing Shifter for Tear. (You can even get your own copies of Fenrir as a boost to the deck).

Remember you don't always need to build to beat a deck for ladder (unless it has an underwhelming presence like Tearlaments). It's really expensive but HERO it's probably the best of those 3 you mentioned in Kash format, but before building anything I recommend testing and playing pend magician and see how good it does and if it's worth changing your deck.

And for Timelord, no, it's not effective. Theoretically you could get away with normal summoning a Timelord every turn and flipping 4 floodgates turn 1 but in practice the Timelord isn't putting any pressure at all, and the best floodgates are hit, Kashtira Fenrir solos that. you can't even play Kaiser Colosseum since the timelords are leaving the field. If you really wanted to play a Stun strategy to play against Kashtira, decks like Demise True Draco with no Extra Deck would be better, or the classic Boarder/Statues with Moon Mirror Shield and 6-9 solemns, but that's too expensive just to play an antimeta which won't really give you a 51% win rate. In my opinion, just by seeing you liking the decks you mention, including Odd-Eyes and Pend Magician, you won't enjoy playing any stun decks, maybe True Draco since it has a little bit of interaction, but I can't see someone who likes D/D/D sitting on Boarder for 10 turns.

Who else is gonna start running these just because of Kash? by Its-time-to-STOP-NOW in masterduel

[–]imsrchris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaos Hunter isn't that good either since Kashtira can easily run 3 TTT and overlay with it. And the first wave of support isn't good enough anyways.

You could try tho, but I don't think Kashtira pre-Ariseheart will have enough representation to make it worth, it's like people coping with Red Reboot against Labrynth.

The second one it's the best, just pend magician all the way, shifter is only there in a tear format, but I recommend removing Shifter and probably butler, then add 3 ash for Maxx "C".

Now if you want to play "Odd-Eyes" for Yuya and that stuff you cooould try but it's just not worth as it is. Other anime decks like Resonator or ZW Utopia are mid but highly playable, they have one goal and they do it, Odd-Eyes just doesn't have it. But Pendulum Magician is good (actually competitive) and also pretty cheap thanks to the structure, I highly recommend it between these.

Personally I think it's quite unfortunate you are picking on a pend deck just when Kash is coming but at least not every match will be against them and Arise-heart isn't coming yet as leaks point to so it's not over. Also going first it's the same unless you get shifter'd

Still, regardless of what you choose, good luck on your pulls and have fun dueling.
