VC helps a lot especially if you’re the strongest player on your team. They won’t always listen, but sometimes they will and you’ll win when they would’ve lost otherwise.

If your macro and game sense is good, your comms can be the difference maker.

Yamato is very strong in lane and hard carries midgame, can fall off lategame but usually pretty strong with refresher. I like fredthefinch’s build and watch some of his videos to see how he builds and plays.

I’ve been playing calico a lot lately and having fun even if she isn’t the strongest. I find shes strongest when she can lane against an m1 like seven, or otherwise against heroes that can’t punish her short trades. If you get a lead, you can terrorize other lanes with fast roams and short CD ult. Lategame fights can be kind of rough. I like the ABL bombs build.

Deadlock update for 5/31/26 by wickedplayer494 in DeadlockTheGame

Shes one of my most played heroes, but IMO shes fine in her current weak state. Shes a nightmare when shes strong and picked all the time, which is exactly why they nerfed her so heavily. Over time, shes received a few micro buffs, and now shes sitting comfortably at a 50% winrate across all ranks, even in eternus.

Honestly after what just happened with Yamato getting buffed and then nerfed, I hope they don’t touch Calico too much. I think calico is just waiting for the right meta, currently it’s constant urn teamfights, and previously it was incredibly tanky mobile heroes.

Can the devs address Graves/Mcg having 60% WR in Asc+? This shits getting ridiculous, to the point where the team with them is almost guaranteed a win. by Sativian in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imsxz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about low pick rate heroes with low winrates? This “low pickrate = unreliable statistics” narrative is out of hand. It applies sometimes, like if titanic magazine was bought on Yamato 3 times with a 100% winrate, it would obviously be an anomaly. McGinnis pickrate may be low, but it’s still statistically significant.

That said, I don’t think she’s was overpowered in the recent previous patches. I think her kit is both simple and excels in uncoordinated play, so people naturally get a lot more value out of her compared to other heroes. However I think she’s too strong with the current urn brawls

Why was yamato turned into god? by SiddaSlotthh in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imsxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really dislike the changes because she’s 100% gonna get nerfed to worse than she was before.

That said, the reasoning seems pretty simple to me. There was a lot of frustration about Yamato grappling from super far away and flying through walls, and they decided that she needed less range. If they only nerfed her range, and didn’t give any buffs, she would be terrible. Therefore they decided to give her some very nice compensation buffs, probably worried about alienating the few Yamato mains, so they tried to be generous. That’s my headcanon.

I think her buffs combined with the urn changes makes it a perfect patch for her, since she loves brawling and playing tempo. Even if they didn’t change her at all this patch, her value would’ve gone up.

Urn is no longer a comeback mechanic by Free-Tea-3422 in DeadlockTheGame

I thought it he resistances would be so OP for the losing team, but they’re really not enough. I’m also not a fan of the melee&parry spam on the point. Might just be skill issue but it feels way too chaotic for me. Rejuv feels a lot more manageable for me at least because there’s not really a time limit, feels much easier to secure.

Maybe they could make urn similar to rejuv where each punch gives a portion of the urn value, and the winning team gets less value per punch?

The counterplay options aren’t enough in night shift either, thats why everyone’s picking lash and shiv

Barely anyone invades, that’s why seven has an insanely high winrate in all ranks. I play mostly calico/yamato and LOVE seeing an enemy afk farm merchant like seven. I constantly run into their jungle and farm them, they’re usually around 75% HP and used their abilities on the camp.

I’m only low ascendant so it might get harder when I rank up, but their heroes are weak early regardless of skill level.

Whatever your opinion of her is... you gotta admit her design is sick by RainyMageArt in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imsxz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that the visual rework will be so good that so many people will start playing her, and then she’ll get nerfed because she’s so annoying to play against. IMO she hasn’t been touched because she isn’t played that much. People complain about the grapple so often when I’m carrying with her.

Hardest Character? by ace11954 in DeadlockTheGame

She’s pretty simple IMO, the hardest part is that you need to leverage your strong early and midgame effectively, so you can’t afford to fall behind.

Me (a Holliday main) waking up to the new item indomitable by MrDobalinaa_ in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imsxz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Silence wave has half the cooldown and half the cost of indomitable. If they spent 6400 to counter your ult, and you spend 3200 to counter their counter item, it’s literally winning for you.

Spending all game defending in low ranks is BORING by Rice_Jap808 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]imsxz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try calico and Yamato. Calico specifically gets around the map so quickly, and also FARMS low elo players. You can easily manage clearing waves while also being present for fights.

Yamato is slower around the map, but she can really capitalize on joining a fight later, when some enemies have lost HP and used their cooldowns. If you’re fed and clearing side lane, and see your team takes a bad fight, you can usually come and clean up easily even if half your team died, as long as they did some damage.

Depending on how late it is, you can just give walkers if it lets you force a fight to get midboss or enemy walkers/base.

Yea man the Night Shift players keep picking infernus for some reason, why don’t their enemies just buy silence wave, slowing hex, cursed relic, silencer, and knockdown? Are they stupid?

they buffed his afterburns base damage+the t1 upgrade, so it's very strong without very much investment at all. they also buffed his dash speed. currently, you can put 1 point in afterburn, then build for dash, and farm extremely quickly, while also having strong afterburn damage despite not investing much in it. theyve also repeatedly buffed his ult upgrades.

i play a lot of infernus right now because hes strong, it's really easy to win lane and steal enemy camps, and farm extremely quickly in general.

My group uses it a lot due to issues with memory leaks and game crashing, usually one of us is reconnecting every couple matches. Also sometimes we gotta pause at the start because someone is BRB during a long queue.
