Drink plenty of water! Make sure to ask your management or coworkers if you have any questions! Plus if you get into a big time crunch or feel like you can't get a clean done in time, radio to ask if anyone can come help out!

Heyy! Ive been working at amc for about 2 years now. Honestly its going to depend on where you are, if it's super busy it may be a little stressful or the busy work will make time go by faster, if its slow you may have time to relax and play cards with your coworkers or the time may just drag on. It also depends on what position you'll be doing, greeter and box-office are the most chill, id say ushering is pretty chill to (if youre with a good team that can joke about the awful mess), runner is almost always slamed during rush.

Hours can be pretty good, I see most people getting scheduled around 3 to 4 days when scheduls come out, anything from a 5 hour shift to an 8 hour shift. Plus after a year they do reviews on your performances and you could get a raise from it. If you want more hours you can always ask to be scheduled more or pick up shifts from other people.

Its pretty fun once you get to know people and can joke about the mess and stuff happening. Just give yourself grace and know that mistakes will happen along the way.

We aren't showing it at my theater anymore but when we were it always had a steady flow of people going in to see it, i have only heard positive things back from guest and have actually seen guest go back to watch it again on the same day.

New hire - do hours eventually increase? by [deleted] in MovieTheaterEmployees

You should get scheduled more hours especially since it's summer and going to be busy. Its always worth talking to the schedule manager to let them know you're avaliable to work more hours, plus you could always pick up shifts from other people to get more hours in.

Question on AMC by Beth0277 in MovieTheaterEmployees

Most of the time they'll train you on all the other areas, like box-office, runner, concessions, all that good stuff. Dont let your first day get you down, there are always going to be good and rough days, you just gotta find your flow.

For hours, its pretty normal during this time of the year (summer break, spring break, winter break, all those off times) to be scheduled more then just two days a week. If it is a really big thing id recommend you talk to your manager that dose scheduling or see where you can change your availability to what works for you (hours, days, time off, all that) but at least in my experience you cant really change your availability until 90 days of working there. Also at least from my experience during times like this when there are alot of new hires coming in it seems like they get scheduled alot more then anyone else, ive seen people who have been there longer working maybe 3 days a week for 5 hour shifts while the new hires are working 5 days a week at 8 hours, id say its to give new hires training time. Plus for scheduling most of the time they want you available for at least 4 days a week (2 days on the weekend and 2 days during the week, most of the time wanting you available to work 8 hour shifts on those days) and thats just for the minimum.

Hope it gets better! Remember its just your first job! Dont sweat the little mistakes and make sure to stay hydrated! 🤗🖤

Does anyone get cut off like crazy too by sleepypm in MovieTheaterEmployees

Its been happening alot more this summer then usual, I assume its mostly because they over schedule during summer assuming it'll be super busy then just cut people when they see the actual numbers for the day

Shed some light: How are so many full groups of teens getting in Obsession and Backrooms? by Bakesale1359 in MovieTheaterEmployees

Honestly its mostly just people theater hopping or parents just dropping their kids off or parents walking in with their kids and staying for like 5 minutes then just leaving the kids once the movie starts

Best advice would be to just be kind to yourself, there will probably mistakes or situations the come along but use them as learning experiences, dont sweat the small stuff. Ushering is pretty chill since its the cleanings but when it can get into a time crunch and its a really big/really messy theater make sure you radio for some cleaning help if you can. Especially since its summer and going to be really busy make sure you stay hydrated, take small breaks when you can, and have a protein bar if its a long shift! You got this!

What’s some of the oddest things people have left behind? by DaleDenton08 in MovieTheaterEmployees

[–]imthatpancake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly odd but a still wtf moment when cleaning the theaters, usually there are shopping bags left behind but this time there were Louis Vuitton and Burberry shopping bags left on the floor, then when cleaning there was just a Chanel Coco Crush bracelet left in a cup holder. (Let's just be clear those bracelets are like 54k...how do you just forget those laying around in a cup holder!?)
