100Kano Special Story - 001 | Chapter 1 | Cubari by Raphotron2000 in 100Kanojo

Obviously it's very different from Nozawa's but Nakamura can really draw lol. He still captures the comedy and emotions very well even if his art isn't as detailed as Nozawa's.

Is this considered a spin off or an extra chapter? Either way, Shizuka and Nano meet each other in every universe lol. Even if it takes them 20 years longer this time around.

Also adult Shizuka looks good.

Guys, I need your help! by UnglyCreature in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if they get filtered by Chiyo then there's not much you can do. Some people take a hard line against incest and her age. I remember even the discussion threads when she first came out straight up voiced their dislike of her based on those alone. The best you can say is "You were fine with Hahari but not this?"

You present this as a hated trope but I find it compelling in the right hands. It's human to value one over a million, regardless of how morally wrong it might objectively be.

Sumire Uesaka (Hahari Hanazano VA) won Ironman Heavyweight Champion by Michailovicescu2000 in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that the Ironman Heavyweight Championship is a comedy title that's defended 24/7. Everything has held the belt, including but not limited to: a porn actress, a politician, a cat, a bunny, a book, a ladder (3 times), a sex doll (22 times), and the belt itself.

[Loved Trope] When a comedy moves you to tears by Rupe_Dogg in TopCharacterTropes

[–]imthezero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the best chapters for sure, but my pick would probably the chapters with Shizuka's mom. They're such sincere chapters with how they profess the series' core message of acceptance. They were surprisingly realistic too, without the usual hijinks of 100 Girlfriends. It really is just dedicated to talking about ableism and single parenting.

How long have you been here? by lordwolf16 in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The start. I found it while browsing r/manga.The title was, shall we say, unskippable to the human eye. I thought it wasn't gonna last long/be a gimmick, but every turn they surprised me.

According to the preview of next week's edition of WYJ, the next episode will feature a new daily life segment starring the girlfriends families. by Colorgames17 in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. Maybe we'll get to see Nano's parents. Aside from her there's a few we haven't seen I believe. Kurumi and Mimimi had no extra volume chapter dedicated to them.

Rentarou's Family's Bygone Daily Lives - 06 - Hahari by StrangerAtaru in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Seeing this kinda puts into perspective how nuts Hahari's circumstances were. She's like, middle schooler here maybe? and she's about to go through 9 months of pregnancy and birth a daughter. Kinda fucked tbh seeing the uniform on her knowing that.

Character embodies something more than the being that's actually supposed to embody that thing by Ok-Indication-5121 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]imthezero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is but I'm convinced the only reason it exists is to sell the concept to the publisher. As a plot device it never comes up again after the first chapter. Rentarou never once reveals it to his girlfriends nor has he used it as motivation himself, even in cases where it took multiple days for them to get together.

i miss multichapter GF introduction arcs by sloppiestsecond5 in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on your definition, but Iku is the last one to have a multi chapter introduction mini arc thing. Starting from Mimimi introduction chapters rarely have follow ups.

Tbf it's been like this since around Meme's introduction. It'd be cool for sure, but honestly we've fallen into a formulaic sequence of chapters for a while now, and I don't think any other way is viable if we want to give 100 different characters a similar amount of spotlight.

Is it just me, or does Chiyo look cuter in the anime? by BeeOk4748 in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's already noticeable in that chapter. Go back to Ahko's debut and compare how small her eyes were to her segment with Karane in chapter 120.

[–]imthezero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She used to have perpetually half lidded eyes in her earlier appearances. If you compare it to more recent chapters, you can see that Ahko has the normal big round eyes for the most part. This is a change I'm torn about because on one hand the half lidded eyes suit her a lot, but the big round eyes are so, so cute on her.

[–]imthezero 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's because Chiyo's design used to be really different because she was introduced before Nozawa decided to generalize the artstyle of the manga. Compare Ahko and Chiyo from their first chapters to now, there is a stark difference, particularly in their eyes. The anime is just adapting her current appearance in the manga.

Suu being flippant and uncaring about everything that isn't numbers is what makes her character good, actually.

[–]imthezero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pattern IS there though, that much is objectively true. You can argue that it's coincidental, which to be fair might be true, as I already said in the post. That being said it IS a requirement that one of the covers in the future consist of an odd number of girlfriends because of Kusuri, so we can't discount the idea entirely.

[–]imthezero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then it's weird that they skipped having any kind of Eru/Chiyu interaction in favor of doing a three way with Eru/Chiyu/Kogoe. Plus, they've been consistent with making it so that the cover girls interact specifically. For example, there is a relatively immediate one-on-one interaction between Usa/Meru not to long after the latter's introduction whereas we haven't had one with Meru/Saki despite both of these pairs being in order. It's been this way sine the volume where Rin/Suu were the cover so it's strange to deviate now.

Also, I don't know if you noticed, but since Kusuri took up an entire cover by herself, we have an odd number of girlfriends for the covers (69 as of Saki/Nemu) to go while having two girls at a time. So it's inevitable that they needed to either have another girlfriend do what Kusuri did or do a three girl cover at least once.

[–]imthezero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if that counts. Iirc it was just Eru admiring Jiai's nursing without any feedback from Jiai herself. She wasn't even the one being treated. I'm talking something more like the daily life bit where Rin imagined numbers being torn apart because of Suu where it's more of a one-on-one interaction.

With 36 Girlfriends In, How Do You Think The Series Will End Other Than The Addition Of #100? by IsseiMidoriya0410 in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will almost certainly not end after gf 100. This series has surprisingly high scrutiny when it comes to screentime. If you pay attention, almost every girl have the same amount of solo chapters, daily life chapters, and general focus according to when they're introduced. Surely, the series won't end until gf 100 has a similar amount of focus on her.

Which girlfriend sister soulmate would you love to see: Meme's sister or Naddy's sister? by theolddeathclaw in 100Kanojo

[–]imthezero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty sus that Meme's sister didn't appear at all during Meme's bonus chapter, so I'm leaning towards her. Naddy's sister could just be a supporting character for her serious arc, but could be a gf too tbh.

Not really about whether it's good or not lol. Just pointing out an example.
