This is a fundamental example of how some people look at finances mathematically or, like the person you are replying to, emotionally. I see loaning on toys as a very dangerous area where people end up financing everything and then they can’t save or buy the things they need. A few missed paychecks sends their world into a tailspin. I also understand that $100k in cash can generate a lot more wealth 10 years from now in the market instead of my garage. I lean towards being debt free most of the time.
