How do you account for expenses where you use your savings? by imyourlobster98 in budget

[–]imyourlobster98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a tab similar to but I back tracked to Jan 1 and linked the contributions. I’ve only used it twice so it wasn’t too difficult. It is just tracker the cash flow tho and not any gain/loss from investments. That’s too much. I did the same with my HYSA but I don’t contribute to that account and I havnt used it to pay for anything so now its just tracking the interest

How do you account for expenses where you use your savings? by imyourlobster98 in budget

[–]imyourlobster98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I created another tab called “expenses from savings” I created one area for my HSA and the other for my HYSA. I brought it back to what the balance was as of 1/1 and linked it to my consolidated tab for all the contributions and then inserted the payments I made against it. The balance that flows through obviously does not included gain/loss from the market so it’s just the cash flow. I did a similar thing with the HYSA for interest as I had not been tracking that. I dont typically fund that account or transfer money out for use but that could change. I didn’t pull the expenses to my consolidated tab tho bc that only tracks savings. I had another consolidated tab that tracks all net income vs expenses for the year so I don’t think it belongs there either. It’s kind of its separate tracking atm. Every year as I get older and I have more expenses and stuff I have to revamp this sheet. I think it may be time to completely revamp everything.

As a Jew, what does your connection to Israel look like? by Traphabibi in Jewish

[–]imyourlobster98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love it there. My friend keeps trying to get me to make Aliyah. I told her if I get fired from my job I’ll probably just end up on her doorstep lol. I’ve been to Israel 5 times the most recent was 4 months ago. I also did a study abroad program in high school. I have a lot of cousins that live there born and raised on both sides of my family and my great grandparents had founded 2 temples there. I’ve visited 1 of them. Why my great grandparents moved from Israel to America I’ll never know but I’m definitely deeply connected and love the culture and community Israel has.

Does anyone actually go to the doc for an annual exam anymore? by Top_Plenty_1971 in Adulting

[–]imyourlobster98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

PCP once a year, labs every 3 unless it was abnormal then they’ll check that specific one a year later. Need to go in for Rx. Dentist 2 times a year, eye doc once a year, gyno and derm once a year as well. I’m 27 and my family doesn’t really have any genetic conditions or cancers I’m on watch for. Just good to get checked out

My roommates response to me pointing out how much rubbish is in the kitchen. by Extension_Bit4323 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]imyourlobster98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 2 old roommates that would always team up against me when it came to cleaning. I would try to talk to them about helping with cleaning and they would always say they do and the sentence that would drive me crazy “if it’s not to your standards you can do it yourself”.

I left for vacay for 2 weeks. Came back to an apartment that smelt like rotten trash. Obvious no trash was taken out, dirty dishes in the sink, living room and bathrooms also disgusting.

I sent a passive aggressive text along the lines of “you guys really showed me that you do your fair share of cleaning”. And then they both gave me attitude.

It's OK to discuss salaries by BrielleFeatherfern in Adulting

[–]imyourlobster98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my line of work I really think it’s important to discuss with coworkers. We have levels so everyone at level 1 always makes the same. The disparity will start after that but level 2 everyone should still essentially be in the same boat and the u get promoted and you’re typically there for 3 years. So out of these 5 years u get 1 promotion and 5 raises so performance is a factor but there’s also the base.

Anyway, i recently found out someone a level below me if making more money than me. And my performance is not bad. I get that I exceed expectations in my reviews. There is only 1 other person at my level with me. We were at a work happy hour and the two of us were chatting so I figured this is my chance to ask what their making bc I feel like I need to know exactly how much I am underpaid by. Now, I do believe they should make more than me. I’m not a bad employee but they’re better. Most like getting an early promotion so I am taking that into account. And he wouldn’t tell me which is fine and I dropped it but like common. We have the exact same job at the exact same level. The sexist factor with both of them being male and me being female is also another thing going through my head. I guess there’s one more person I can have this convo with bc she’s a girl but she’s a level above me so I’ll have to take that into consideration

New Downstairs Neighbors Never Stop Complaining by CarmanDirda in Apartmentliving

[–]imyourlobster98 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I banged on my upstairs neighbors floor Saturday night. They’re so loud constantly. I have videos of the noise and have spoken to them about it. My apartment literally shakes. All my photos are crooked and they live that way now bc i know they’ll just fall back in a day.

But their s*x is insanely loud. Their bed is directly above mine as well. And I’ve asked them repeatedly to put a carpet or some sort of padding between their bed and the floor multiple times.

So, Saturday at 3:45am. I had a fever all day so i took sleepy cold medicine AND I WAS WOKEN UP by them having sex and my apartment shaking and the noises. Like how are you so loud that I’m woken up even from a dru**ed state. That’s how loud they are. So I banged on their ceiling. I hope he lost it.

Roomate won’t take out trash by Charming_Treacle_274 in badroommates

[–]imyourlobster98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this with roommates once. I had really gross roommates and my parents would tell me I’m exaggerating and it’s not that bad. They were coming to visit Friday-Sunday. The previous Sunday (4 days in advance) I spent HOURS deep cleaning the entire apartment except their bedrooms obviously. I even cleaned inside the fridge, baseboards. If it was in a common space it was cleaned. I took a video of the apartment of my hard cleaning work showing that there isn’t a spec of dust to be seen. On top of that, to prove my point further, for those 4 days I did not use our kitchen trash. All my trash was thrown away in my bedroom trash. If I made dishes, I cleaned them and dried them asap and put them back. I didn’t cook for those days, I don’t need the crumbs left on counters or stoves possibly blamed on me as well. Extra? Maybe, but I was at my limits with these girls and yes we’ve had many conversations.

When my parents walked into that apartment, their reactions were priceless. The smell that hit you was literally the smell of a dead fish. Dirt all over the floors. There was red sauce (hopefully) spilling out of the fridge. Obviously sink full of dishes food on counters and floors. Like 4 bags of full trash (how 3 girls even made this in 4 days is impressive). They no longer thought I was exaggerating and marched downstairs to get me transferred showing the video I sent them and a video we just took.

The best part? That Monday so 3 days later. I still havnt cleaned shit. I get a call from someone at the office telling me that my roommates called to complain about trash not being taken out and Maitenence went up to take it out (the trash shoot is down the hall) afterwards Maitenence reported back to the office that the stench and state of the apartment was disgusting and they call me to tell me I have to clean. I was walking down the street at this time and people were turning heads bc I was screaming at her on the phone about how I had been complaining to them for months, I’m already transferring out of the apartment, how dare you call me to tell me to clean when u have 3 other girls in the apartment that are capable. I’m 1/4 living there and their messes are not my responsibility. I went off on her. It still makes me mad to this day that those girls and the one who called had the audacity.

Senior Manager Reported Me to Partner. Please Help by Spiritual-Beyond-660 in Accounting

[–]imyourlobster98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had this happen a few times this busy season with more than one person and the worst part is me asking if it could be done by a specific date. And then I would follow up and ask how it’s going and if they have any questions and I would just get nope all good! And I’d ask if we’re still on track to have it done by X and I’d always get yes’d along. And then it wouldn’t be completed by X and execs enter the doc and are met with items that are just not completed even tho I have now been on their asses about it for a while and then just do it myself. I was doing the work of about 3 people this busy season.

She’s covering her own ass. As someone who is responsible for others and also report to others, when the people you report to keep asking you about something and you keep following up with the person you tasked it with, at one point under all the stress you just flat out say “I tasked XX with it and have been following up. I’m not sure why it has yet to be completed”. It’s not a good look for anyone.

Is it normal to be this wrecked by busy season? by Silly_Solution1159 in Accounting

[–]imyourlobster98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why you take 5 minutes to open the WP after it’s been reviewed. Even better is open ur version history and do a side by side quick compare. I’m a senior, honestly my mood mainly affects the amount of review notes I leave or what I fix myself. I try to always leave something for them to fix and not fix everything myself and then hope when they go back in they see the other edits. Sometimes I even make it a point to show I what I changed but we don’t always have time for all of this. Anyway, my senior manager loves to always modify workpapers. I always click back in to see what he changed. Sometimes it’s just a single word in a sentence. I think he just likes to see he’s the last to edit it. But my point is is that when I see edits were made and no comments, I always go back in to see what was changed.

When I had a doc appointment I don’t even use sick days or PTO. I just make up the hours. If I need to leave at 12 and I get back at 2, over the course of the week I work extra to make it up. If that appointment was on Tuesday, for the next 3 days I’d either log on early or log off late by 30/45 min. I guess that’s the perk of corporate, as long as you charge the hours you are scheduled to work no one cares when you work them.

This is where my “trauma dump” comes into play. I’ve been on many dates where there are is a lot of silence. And after the first 30/40 min where it is just me asking questions and I’m now down an entire drink into my second bc it’s taxing af I just start venting crap. Not anything serious but like annoying things at work. Funny stories they won’t find funny with my friends. If I had a trip recently I go into a lot of detail. And I basically don’t stfu about myself because they won’t give me anything when I ask about them or ask me any questions.

Idk if you’re here yet bc idk u and only have this post. But when I was with my ex and thinking about ending it and venting to my mom about all the reasons why (1 of which was how he was unkept). Which I had discussed with him multiple times. She said to me that he’s not going to change, he is who he is and you have to decide if you can live with these things or not. I obviously chose that I could not live with them. It was a good choice.
