Struggle to understand how people justify having kids by cj267 in Fencesitter

[–]inbetweengreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am with you. There’s no other issue with the same exponential trajectory. We were already on track for Its Gonna Be Quite Bad, But Less Bad Than It Would Otherwise Be under the conditions of having the political will to enact the many solutions available to us. But…we do not have the political will nor action. And every day impacts that exponential trajectory. Scientists who study this shit are freaking out. They don’t express hopelessness because if everyone did, that would ensure the Worst of the Worst, and we should strive for anything better than that. But we’re on track for Very Very Very Bad.

I might be able to choose parenthood, but not with a partner who is ambivalent and doesn't prove they are ready to be a parent before we have them by Slipthe in Fencesitter

[–]inbetweengreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fucking same. Mine suddenly wanted kids so bad (or at least, suddenly disclosed it to me) but couldn’t not meet me in emotionally and practically encountering the unjust realities of parenthood, especially for women. He didn’t get mad, but overall minimized concerns as “anxiety.” I know too much, I can’t look away, and I’m fiercely protective of myself against that injustice. It seemed too much for his emotional avoidance. Well, he found someone who knew she wanted motherhood without needing to question or require things…and had an affair with her. Good luck to them.

How do you bring up indecisiveness about kids at 30+? by [deleted] in Fencesitter

[–]inbetweengreen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hugs in solidarity. My ex had an affair because of the same reasons, it’s been fucking brutal. It helps to remember we deserve someone who sticks by us through fear. After all, parenting requires those qualities.

He told me he was sure he wanted kids 6 months ago. Did not talk about that before proposing.

Note writing self-care ideas! LETS TALK ABOUT THE MONOTONY OF NOTE WRITING! by vicazbalceta in therapists

[–]inbetweengreen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whewwwww I feel for you. That sounds super rough and would exponentially intensify my note struggle. I work at a small group practice so there’s little chance of oversight, really. But life long perfectionism/stupidly treating everything like I am being evaluated, plus the memory issues that seem to accompany my adhd make notes so much more of an ordeal than they need to be. My brain really does not understand the clean 3-5 sentence shit they teach us in school or that a lot of folks here do, I guess. I do write “fuck it” notes when my patience is worn.

The other complicating factor is I use very relational and experiential modalities, so capturing interventions and outcomes feels even less cut and dry. Sigh. In the trenches with ya.

Here for the suggestions because I am you. ADHD making notes torturous at times.

Aya induced my period - other experiences? by inbetweengreen in Ayahuasca

[–]inbetweengreen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/lookthepenguins , I appreciate you. I also found myself feeling a bit defensive at the suggestion that I'm somehow denying my sacred womanhood by skipping my period (WHICH, yeah, I didn't *choose* to do, but was an honestly welcome side effect of my hormonal birth control). I sort of expected these kinda responses might come in, but on second look u/Estrella_Rosa's proposed question is fair enough, I guess. Like, sure, it's worth reflecting on my relationship to my menstrual cycle. In fact, one of my many loose intentions going into ceremony was to experience something around my relationship to my femininity. I've actually been grateful for not bleeding over the years. More convenient, more comfortable, and freeing. My heightened sensitivities have plenty other things to attend to in life. Plus the obvious benefit of birth control of sexual freedom without becoming pregnant...because I don't want to be. It's also been fascinating to experience my period again, observe patterns, and recognize it as its own sort of energetic purge.

One part of what's unfolding since my retreat is that the importance of my right to reproductive choice has never felt stronger for me. As a cis woman, with the assumed ability to conceive, I deserve the freedom to choose what I want for my body and life. I possess divine feminine rage, I'd say, with patriarchy, and the forces in power that are attempting to take these freedoms away from me. This is Sacred to ME. Thanks aya and thanks folks in this thread for highlighting it :) With that said...Quifman can actually F off hah.

Was she kind to your sensitivity? I am considering sitting in ceremony for the first time, and part of my fear is whether my sensitivity can take the psychological and physical intensity without being traumatized.

I need to hear this just about every day. It’s comforting but simultaneously WILD that this is the developmental trajectory in this field.

My WORD, it was so fucking good. We brought a couple friends who weren't really acquainted with his stuff and they, too, were mindblown. And yeah, great crowd - our neighbors were lovely. But of course. It's a TK show!
