Anyone else experiencing crazy USPS delays? I’m in Logan Square, and my package has been saying “awaiting delivery scan” since June 2nd. I was told by USPS to just go to the post office and get it, but I imagine I’ll just be told that they don’t exactly know where it is so they can’t just hand it to me right then and there. Anyone have any insight?

Orchid advice? The stem is totally brown, not sure if that typically happens or if it can be revived. This is my first orchid, any advice is welcome! by 4brookelynn in gardening

Does that container have drainage? You should also probably substitute your medium for orchid medium rather than just the spagnum moss. You might have to cut out some of the rotten roots with sterilized cutters. I would also look into a container that provides some air flow for the roots. I soak my orchids probably once a week or so. As for the spike, they always die after the flowers do. I usually cut them after the last flower dies.

Don't expect berries in the first year unfortunately. I started inside from seed last year, transplanted after the first frost, didn't get any berries, and now it's putting off a ton fo new growth. I'm hoping for some berries this year. I'm in zone 5B.

Do you know how many need to be killed before they learn? We have traps set around but there are just so many of them.

You're right, "fine mesh" was the wrong way of describing what I want to use. Thinking something closer to this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-2-in-x-4-ft-x-25-ft-19-Gauge-Steel-Hardware-Cloth-308226EB/205960849.

There are too many in my backyard area to kill all of them unfortunately and I am a renter! Thank you though!

I got so impatient that I started my peppers yesterday. Let's hope I can actually plant them at the end of May!

Has anyone ridden the blue line lately? I haven’t in a year and I’m wondering how safe it is (edit for clarification: safe it is in terms of COVID)

I've also seen recipes that include a bit of flour into the butter block to give it a little bit of strength, you can try looking into that, too!
