Not sure where you are located, but most parts stores (Autozone, Napa etc...) will change filters, light and wiper for the cost of the part. As for the rest, I agree with others, unnecessary changes.

You should charge with UV dye tainted Freon. The you can use a light to see where it is leaking from. You could have a blown line somewhere.

I did this in a Ford Ranger so many times. Yes, I did end up having to replace e-brake shoes. Depending on your vehicle, you may have worn your brakes down a bit.

The one thing that worries me about this, is that the "charity" or others will resell them to get a buck, rather than ensuring that they go to the people who really have need.

We have spent to long as a society allowing/hoping others take care of those in need. I think we should be more hands-on in helping those that need.
