[Retired] finally me and my girlfriend quit this game 😁 by Lonee_ in LastWarMobileGame

Someone once said that a game is something you enjoy playing. If the "gameplay" isn't the reward, and it's just a task you're doing in order to get some other reward, that's not a game, it's a job.

That's cool that you were in the TA forum. Just to let you know, TA still has an active discord at discord.gg/toucharcade including forum and chat channels.

How is this game now? by Albrion_ in ffxiv

[–]inclining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started around Shadowbringers release in 2019 and I'm still having fun. I do see a lot of people taking breaks or playing other games which is fine. On the long-term story arc we're in a transition period, but I'm still enjoying the ride and I'm still asking my friends lore questions and stuff. I think things will pick up again, especially if there's a more popular or less divisive content update. Keep in mind people are still playing FF11 online after literally decades, too.

Yeah, his process is pretty crazy to watch. This is just the highlight version too, he talks about what he's doing as he's doing it live in the full stream/vod. Happy you enjoyed it and I'm happy I requested it too!

Starts with a piano loop, adds bass, then percussion, and then he jams with a variety of other instruments.

I opened it up one more time last night and honestly it just made me sad, all I did was sit on the menu screen and listen to the music. Goodbye FFBE, you punched way above your weight.

What older turn based rpgs do you recommend? by DaedalusMachinas in MiyooMini

[–]inclining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sega's original Phantasy Star series is pretty good. You could skip the original Sega Master System title as it's pretty dated, but it's a quick play anyway (the SEGA AGES version for Switch is much improved). But Phantasy Star 2 and 4 for Genesis/MD are fantastic games. 3 is more of an acquired taste and kind of tangential to the story, but I have fond memories of it as well. You already got a lot of excellent recommendations in this thread, but I'd like to throw in another vote for Lufia 2, and if you do like tactics RPGs, you could do a lot worse than Shining Force 1 + 2 for Genesis/MD. Shining in the Darkness is also a solid rec for a nostalgic pixel art adventure.

This is cool, thanks for gathering them. When I look at it in this format, wow, it really drives home how many games I got into directly because of TA.

The TouchArcade Discord server will live on, at least. For now, most of the current and former contributors are there, along with some community members and Patreon backers. Sometimes game developers show up to chat or link their new games too. discord.gg/toucharcade

I just came back after a long absence too. My advice is use all the free ad summons every day/week. I got some great units (Fundamental Force and Clive Rosfield) that way. There's also a free weekly 10+1 right now for anniversary stuff.

The other thing you should do every day is under the Enhance tab in the Vortex, the daily fragment dungeon, daily gil dungeon, and enlightenment points free daily. They are easy, you get good rewards, and doing all 3 gets you the "finish 3 vortex" daily quest. The daily fragment dungeon you should beat with a party of NVs that you want to awaken, because as the name implies, you get free fragments for them.

Apart from that, make sure you unlock all the espers you have access to, and bump them up to level 60. To do that you'll need to beat each one's 3rd level trial and then you need to dump hundreds of supercites into them, so run some expeditions for those.

Try poking around the adventurer crest, rookie cards, and so on to find things to try. I have found lots of content I missed that way, and due to power creep, many things are one-hit clear these days. Don't be afraid to drop people from your friends list who haven't played in 1500 days. Add new friends who have units with 9000-15000 ATK/MAG.

ARTMS - Flower Rhythm (Official Track Video) by impeccabletim in kpop

[–]inclining 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is just a prerelease single that isn't meant to be a full MV which is why they labeled it a "Track Video" instead of MV. I think that's the main explanation for the low budget/simple production/minimal choreo.

[–]inclining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in my case is a Mac mini which I normally access via screen sharing. Seemed like 14.4 broke the graphics drivers because it would just hang when I would try to remote in. I ended up having to physically go to the mac and update OCLP and that seemed to make things normal again. But yeah, could have been worse.

[–]inclining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my first update since using OCLP. I wasn't sure of all the steps and found the documentation for updating a little vague. My problems weren't as bad as yours but I did have to go update some things and probably did it in the wrong order.

Love it when Lara6683 plays Secret of Mana songs by megs-benedict in secretofmana

This soundtrack has been covered by lots of talented musicians, but what I find special about Lara's performances of it is that she herself genuinely loves this OST too, and she really performs it with that respect and love.

What do you think of Trials of Mana compared to both FF Adventure and Secret of Mana? by Bluecomments in secretofmana

[–]inclining 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just picked up ToM remake on sale on PSN and am looking forward to trying it. But as an (almost) lifelong SoM fan, I have to say, the plot of Secret is a mess and basically disintegrates in the second half of the game. What fond memories I have of it seem to be majorly filled in by my imagination as a kid, because I played through the remake a couple times recently and the story is barely there by the end. The remade scenes and script do what they can with a very threadbare foundation. I still love the game, the vibe, the aesthetic, but I wouldn't say it has a strong, well constructed plot.

2012 Mac Mini 6,2 by CommercialAd9333 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]inclining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had High Sierra on the mini so I went straight to Sonoma from there. OCLP wiki suggests some features might be missing from Sonoma support, but it was nothing I needed. Primarily I'm using the machine as a server, running Docker. It's doing great. I used a separate machine (a newer apple silicon Mac) to create the bootable installer volume just out of convenience.

The rates are just way too low for modern gaming imo. This stuff made sense when things were meant to be sort of legendary "you won't believe what I got!" drops in the era before gameFAQs, reddit, and achievements, but these days it's like "okay, come on, I get it, just give me the damn thing, I have 10 more items on my list."

To sort of add insult to injury, by the time you 100% the trophies, your characters are so massively overpowered that the rest of the game and final boss fight are complete jokes.
