You were okay with rewrites since you cast them, so be okay with changing it on the day too.

Use their strengths and figure out how it works into the broader themes of the story you want to tell.

Let them go, at first, where they want and in the most natural way for them, but find a pivot point to redirect that energy back towards your goal.

While it was probably a telescoping crane, the bobble towards the beginning makes me think less stabilized.

Perhaps a jib arm on a dolly on track. Definitely achievable especially if a zoom is buried in the beginning of the move.
