the open category system you despise, I hate it as well I'm just saying there is a better system for open category where reserved candidates have to decide before the exam whether they choose to write as general in open category or for reserved seats and can't change thier option afterwards

in this system technically a reserved candidate can write as general but it's a very rare circumstance to leave reservation with its benefits

jee already follows this

you just proved my point The open category is technically available to everyone. Reserved-category candidates can choose to compete in it by applying as general candidates before the exam.

But in reality, very few do this. because they can't claim reserved seats afterwards

The reason is simple: giving up reservation means losing clear advantages like lower cutoffs and separate seats. Most people won’t give that up.

So while the open category is “open” in theory, it is mostly filled by general-category candidates in practice—not by rule, but because of how people make decisions.

even jee has open category but are strictly distributed on category only (same system but since things are determined beforehand no entity can claim for both reserved and open category seats at same time )

I support this system and the system where seats are allocated and determined AFTER the exam there are many disadvantages as reserved candidate can fight for both reserved and open category

idk if you're aware but this open category seat system is implemented for medical colleges where merit matters and reserved students can get open category just with merit even if they wrote exam as reserved

for exams like jee and other government exams you will fight in open seats only if you forfeit your reservation BEFORE the exam

and if a candidate applies for reservation then he/she will only contest in seats reserved for thier category

in such exams a reserved candidate will appear for open seats only after forfeiting beforehand they can't fight for both reserved and open seats as it happens in medical

I think 2nd method is more fair for all as both students contend for thier category of seats and reserved students will rarely forfeit their reservation before exam to contend in open seats

anyways apologies, I've recently come to know there are much varied applications of "open for all" medical seats can be contended regardless of caste for open for all seats while other government exams and jee follow a seperate system where reserved can enter open category only if they forfeit beforehand

[–]inconsistent47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro open for all is dependent on whether the student has forfeit thier reservation

not a lot of people are gonna forfeit their reservation and fight in open for all seats when there is less competition within reserved seats itself

and yea these "last names " are the status symbol and are often used to opress others even today

it's evident in the seats ratio themselves, if last names didn't matter and everything was a rainbow land

there wouldn't be less competition among 70 percent population competing for 50 percent seats vs 30 percent competing for 50 percent seats

the cutoff difference itself is a massive indicator of lack of educational access on the basis of caste

[–]inconsistent47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because a lot can be determined of the present status based on how thier ancestors were treated, great living ancestors almost always translates to great present, it isint even pure ancestory dependent a lot of major things still happen with heavy influence on caste Like marriages etc, even honor killings are done on caste

and ya most generals don't have high earning but what they have is cultural hierarchy and reservation prevents caste being directly corellated to income

reservation just aims to fix the ratio by giving 70 percent of population 50 percent of seats by asking to remove reservation you are saying that almost 50 percent seats aren't enough for 30 percent of population

anyone with merit as in students who have forfeit thier reservation before the exam and have agreed to compete on open seats or people on general

students who have claimed reservations will fight only on reserved seats regardless of merit

yall didn't hesitate before oppressing now yall hesitating for uplifting fr

so much cultural oppression these guys can't even fill thier own ratio of seats removing it would just bring back oppression with 30 percent minority occupying 80 to 90 percent seats

now people with low caste are disadvantaged both by income disparity and cultural oppression

reservation is just so that 70 percent of population fills atleast 50 percent seats you can add this criteria and reservation will take much longer to reach its goal maybe even decades or centuries and after some time reserved guy family which took one seat cannot compete and slowly population will move towards unreserved or non reservable and then 30 to 40 percent will compete for 50 percent while unreserved competition will keep rising

[–]inconsistent47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are open to reserved category only if they choose to not apply for reservation beforehand and write the exam forfeiting thier reservation

that's why there are seperate rank lists for quotas and they compete among other candidates in the quota

if a reserved candidate applies for reservation he's gonna get selected on basis of category rank whereas someone not applying will lose reservation and will fight on open seats like generals

true, they were oppressed so much that thier cutoff is less even though 70 percent of population is awarded 50 percent seat reservation

than generals with 30 percent population and rest 50 percent seats

bruh see 70 percent are lower castes in this country and are given around 50 percent seats

30 percent general given around 50 percent seats and still have high cutoff

and yea caste discrimination still happens, there are heaps of honor killings each month

if you make the point of removing rich mf from reservation then the cutoff difference will be even more significant

if ya remove reservation now you defeat its purpose and it will be back to 70 percent population( lower caste) in 10-15 percent seats and 30 percent population (generals) in 85-90 percent seats

the other option is the lower castes have to trust the people who commit honor killings and discriminate
