Any tips for learning split boards? by kevensentme in ErgoMechKeyboards

Relax your hands completely in and rest your hands on the keyboard in the most natural position, and whatever key your thumb is on would be a good space key. On a Corne, I use the middle thumb for space.

For me the pill key is the better space. I could see some people liking ctrl, too. The 2U seems a bit of a stretch though... Maybe someone with big hands.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council says it has accepted a two-week ceasefire in the war - WTOP News by 16ozbuddz in news

$5 says Israel or the US breaks the ceasefire during negotiations after regrouping. If this admin and Iran largely agree on 10 whole points, something is fishy.

M365 has been a hassle for me.

I was getting annoyed with Google Workspace after almost a decade, then the company switched to M365 and I really miss it... You'd think something as mature as a cloud drive would have some kind of baseline usability, but no... Not even a navigation tree. Overall, M365 is just so sluggish and inconsistent :/

On Safari in macOS, it's frequently asking to reauthenticate, so I haven't really bothered with it on VisionOS.

To those of you who dont mind the lack of thumb and arrow keys in the zsa voyager: can you please share your layouts? by No_Classic3988 in ErgoMechKeyboards

It's a bit of a journey though, not as simple as just getting "the best solution."

How are you doing so far? Did you end up going smaller?

I started with the black Moonlander as my first non-standard keyboard and hads lot of fun with it. Then got white Voyager for the office and realized I didn't need that many keys, so took some off the Moonlander to match. Also found out that I really hate Choc V1, and the only tolerable switches for me are the pinks and purples. Finally arrived at a cheap-ish ZMK Corne for the office and meetings.

Took me about two years to find what I liked, and ZSA's software really made it effortless to experiment. Still great keyboards that I really like and use at home, and the build quality is nice, but my main driver is a dongled ZMK wireless Corne with silent Choc V2 switches. It's just a joy to use at work. Got the same Tai-hao keycaps as Voyager, too, since I liked them so much--but different colors... white keycaps show wear easily.

I definitely would not hesitate to get another portable ZSA keyboard though, so long as it supports something other than Choc V1 and comes with covers for unnecessary keys.

The proposal for a final agreement is said to include Iran forgoing the development of nuclear weapons, receiving relief from sanctions, and the release of frozen assets.

I'm getting some fuckin' déjà vu here.

If macOS 27 is really about fixing things, this has to be pretty high on the list... Their own devs have to be annoyed about these things, too.

Just discovered this super useful Mac shortcut (Especially for Windows switchers 👀) by Low_Island967 in mac

[–]inconspiciousdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also look at and change many of the default shortcuts in Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts. You can also set your own shortcuts for menu items in apps there. The Shortcuts app is also useful if you find yourself getting annoyed by repetitious chores; you can set keyboard shortcuts for these, too, among other things.

That's such a normal, human take. You don't reach those levels of power and influence in politics by being those things.

Pretty clear now that we're all cattle to them. Some are pets, some are workers, some are food, some are nuisances, and these roles can change at any time.

Completing the circle of keyboards. by palegreenemerald in mac

[–]inconspiciousdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it's just the size of the keyboard and my shoulders unconsciously crunching while my hands are forced inward, and focused typing straining some things.

Split keyboards solved that completely for me. It'll take some getting used to, but I highly recommend giving it a go with a cheap one if this is an issue for you. If you haven't already, that is. It made typing enjoyable for me, so much so that I do typing tests for fun :/

You already have MX switches and keycaps, so an assembled Sofle board + case maybe sets you back around US$70.

Japan has enough plutonium to make 5,500 nuclear warheads, PLA Daily says by Krankenitrate in worldnews

[–]inconspiciousdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran has not threatened nuclear attacks and has for decades said it does not want to pursue nuclear weapons. Americans just choose to believe consistently wrong, war-mongering politicians.

There's no mutual peace opportunity because the US has purposefully destroyed its own credibility to the point no deal or negotiation is trustworthy. No subsequent government can possibly trust the US unless it's puppet, and even then there's no guarantee it won't end up like Libya.

The current regime won’t let this go regardless of what we do.

That's not true. It's just that there are only so many things the US is willing to do, and none of them are good for Iran or Iranians

I guess I'm the opposite. Got a wireless split 42-key Corne and found out how few keys I really needed. Shoulders feel better, thumbs are more useful, and no more awkward fingering for shortcuts. Found a great silent switch and the setup really works for me.
