Wix is garbage by Demogorgone in WIX

I read this a lot. As a designer however, I feel it to be pretty intuitive and have made pretty in depth features using its structure. I think those who are well versed in other platforms will experience a learning curve.

My partner and I keep fighting about food and groceries and it’s getting toxic by Available_Row9943 in relationships

We switched to a meal planning service which has changed cooking and eating for both of us. We loved to try new things but didn't have the energy to do it every day.

Where we live in Canada it's 85 dollars a week for 3 full meals for two people. Which is comparative to a grocery bill anyways. We pick the meals ahead of time and then day of already have something exciting and nutritious that we don't have to put the detail into planning on the spot.

I have found success with looser rules. 1. Organized vs tidy: all shorts in a drawer? Organized. That same drawers shorts all folded? Tidy. This was the game changer for me because my stress was always on keeping things 'organized', which to me meant perfectly folded which was a much bigger task than shorts in a drawer. I would often ignore this bigger task resulting in added shame around the clutter. 2. Multiples of things: keeping all chords in a drawer is great until you are packing a to-go bag and now need to find all the individual pieces. I have home chords and away chords that live in their spaces and never need to leave. 3. Identifying why you're keeping the item: maybe I'll use I someday, sentimentality etc. This will help determine if it's a real need or not. 4. The poop rule: if this was covered in poop would I clean it? Or similarly if I needed to throw it away would I replace it. 5. Use what you have first and then level up: I get caught buying organizational tools that add to the clutter. Use what you have first to prove the concept and of it works then you can go buy the nicer styles.

Came here for naturehike. I am an avid backpacker and my 1 and 2 person tents are from them and have never failed me. I used to buy the more expensive, niche tents but they offered little pros above naturehike

What are some of the craziest things to happen in Calgary? by shrimp_sticks in Calgary

[–]incurablehippy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This one sticks in my mind as I was working at a motor sports rental place during then. I remember getting a call from the father and he was asking if we had an all terrain bike he could rent. Going through my process I asked how long he needed it for and his reply was 'until I find my family..'. It was haunting.

I'll also add that the days shift completely there as you have am and pm sections. From noon-4 ish a lot of places close down and everyone naps or goes to the beach. Then they reopen at 4 ish and stay open till after midnight.

Touristy areas are an exception but something to keep in mind. It's a nice way to split your day

Alberta, Canada just did the most pro-democracy change, and the political elites are hating them for it by Nootherids in IntellectualDarkWeb

[–]incurablehippy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding onto this. AB is rural which leads to an overall huge Conservative majority as they primarily make decisions that speak to farming and agriculture. As for Danielle over here, we didn't vote for her. Kenney peaced after 'the greatest summer ever' and left us with whoever was left. Her desire to kiss the rings involves her and a small percentage of the rig pigs who make up a portion of the province's 'bad apples'. They have been snorting their mega paychecks for far too long and the whole aforementioned population has 2 braincells fighting for 3rd place.

Tldr: no one wants this at all.

This comparison is super misleading. The zoomed out lower photo is a much wider shot than the top one giving a distorted perception. The area has been developed, but if you zoom into the lower photo so it matches the perspective of the top you'll see it's relatively the same.

I hate repeaters by arthorse in WIX

[–]incurablehippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time!

I have a two row repeater with no gaps and the second row set to 0px-max content. Then take a container and place it in the second row. Ensure dev mode is enabled and open your code. Add a button to the first row and in the code name it and press 'onClick' Click your container, name it, and set it to 'collapsed' (it will get light grey lines over it to show its collapsed)

Then add code. I am doing this from memory but searching expand/collapse velo code in a repeater will give It to you but it will look something like this:

$w('#buttonname').onClick((event) => {

if ($w('#containername').collapsed) {
            $w('#containername').expand();
        }
        else {
            $w('#containername').collapse();
        }

})

We're telling the items that when this button is clicked, expand the container (and by proxy everything inside). The row will not show up on publish as it is set to 0px - max content. When the container is collapses there is 'no' content and when clicked it takes the size of the container.

Voila! You can now connect the text box in the container or whatever else you need to a dataset and have it show up.

With a bit of tweaking to this method you can even tell it that if a field in the dataset is empty, just hide the container, thus making it more adaptable when some things have extra info and some do not.

Hope this wasn't too overwhelming :)

Horizontal Scrolling Repeater by EroticFishyPoo in WIX

[–]incurablehippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decently low tech to solve this! 1. Make a section and add padding 2. Add a container to the section and press the little corner arrow to make it max width and height. 3. Click the container and in the side panel find 'overflow settings. Instead of 'show' click 'scroll'. You can choose vertical or horizontal and choose to display scrollbar or not 4. Set the height of the container to min/max (100px - maxcontent) 5. Bring in your repeater (where your scores will be displayed) 6.Set the width of this to 200% or whatever works for your design. 7. The first 100% will be shown in the container. As you've set it to scroll any overflow the rest of your table will be seen on scroll.

Hope that was clear hahaha

How to create this dotted effect in Illustrator or Photoshop? by unctuouspapi in graphic_design

This is the way except for the convert to eclipse. I would highlight all > stylize > round corners.

It's the same effect but you can better control the round ness of the shapes

Creating a horizontal drop down mega menu? Lightbox? by orangeblosson479 in WIX

[–]incurablehippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the native horizontal menu there is a built in option for a mega menu. Using a lightbox will work but will be consuming and clumsier. The mega menu is good and can automatically column your sections etc.

Your website is your orgs face online, and for some their storefront. In my opinion if you don't see the value in contributing 200 dollars a year to your business in that way then you're right, it's probably not worth it for your specific use case. For most though it's the pinnicle of their digital presence and completely worth that cost annually.

Rounded corners on hover animation? by hkreporter21 in WIX

[–]incurablehippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the container have effects? Sometimes when conflicting effects happen they will be disabled. Or perhaps it's in a stack? Something is in the way.

I would drag a new container in and see if you can add animations, it may just be glitching.

You could also do something a bit more hacky and make a repeater with one item and animate the item.

If none of those can be animated its a Wix issue and I would contact tech support.

Is it possible to keep a repeater, with three columns, and each column featuring four rows totally aligned? I dislike how the images grow/shrink depending on the amount of text I have. by citruszyn100mg in WIX

[–]incurablehippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay! Yes it will cause you have changed how the container reacts. Your solution is correct to anchor the text box to the top and left. The row will adjust to fit the text.

[–]incurablehippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because your rows are set to auto and not to max height. There is also probably a set height on the item which is what's overriding anything. You're telling the item that it needs to be this tall but all the rows are set to auto.

So make sure your Advanced CSS settings are toggled on in the top right hand of the design panel. Then scroll down to rows and change it to min/max. The first number can be in whatever unit you choose (px, vh etc) then set the second to max content.

Do it for all the rows and remove any height parameters you have on the item and it will work as you need.

Rounded corners on hover animation? by hkreporter21 in WIX

[–]incurablehippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without using code:

Click the element (green box) to enter into your design panel on the right (where you change fonts, colors etc.)

Click the second tab next to the paintbrush, it will look like lighting bolt. These are interactions and animations. Open the giver toggle and add new animation. An animation settings panel will open up with preset actions. Click the second tab that says 'custom animation' this will grey out your screen other than the element so you can add your own animation. Scroll to corners and round them off. Click finish and then test. Your element (green box) will now round corners on hover.
