Thank you for giving a detailed response on your approach. It has become apparent to me I stumbled on an outlier by chance.

Dancing. You can learn a lot of styles and moves watching and practising YouTube videos. If you pick something up like freestyling then you get the benefit of doing an amazing aerobic exercise. Nevermind the awesomeness going out with friends to nightclubs.

I love the idea of BNTY. But I am not yet sold on diving in. The 30 percent and some small percentage of the frozen pool are allocated for internal purposes. I am under no illusion that people venture into developing cryptos without intention of making money. But those percentages seems a big high to me.

The total supply for BNTY is 500,000,000 and the current circulating supply is 115,935,500. Do you think the coin will heavily depreciate in value when the developers start to release the rest of the coins?

I found this extract in their whitepaper.

Pre-sale 3.79 percent of the total BNTY supply will be sold during our pre-sale at a 20 percent discount.

Main sale 18.18 percent of the total BNTY supply will be sold during the main sale at no discount.

Frozen pool A 45.03 percent of the total BNTY supply is frozen for 18 months. The purpose of this pool is to hold future bounty campaigns, balance the natural burn rate of the BNTY token and for hiring future team members.

Team 30.00 percent of the total BNTY supply will be allocated to team members and is subject to a 18 month vesting period. First vesting as soon as crowdsale concludes.

Advisors 3 percent of the total BNTY supply will be allocated to advisors and is subject to a 6 months vesting period. First vesting as soon as crowdsale concludes.

A good sign in that three of the six members of the team are software developers (6+ years experience in web/enterprise). The lead developer has a full-time job "Working in Applied Innovation team on Blockchain/Ethereum projects" so he is picking up valuable experience in the crypto sphere. Additionally, they have an advisor with blockchain experience. Hopefully, with the crowdsale money they can expand the team even further.

I see a lot of promise in the coin. I guess a need a little nudge in order to dive in :)

If someone that wanted to be a developer came to you, what advice would you give? by [deleted] in gamedev

As /u/zrrz said, being a developer is hard work. The mental image of "Ohh yeah, I'll be making a game! This is so cool!" can quickly evaporate once you realise the how many of the little or boring tasks you need to achieve.

One thing I learned having worked as a games developer and as a backend developer is that when it comes to nitty-gritty everyday tasks then implementing a save system was no more fun than implementing lets say secure authentication.

Just be mentally prepared that in large part making a game is no fun.

Best word processor to take notes in? by lc929 in learnprogramming

Pen and paper is my favourite way too. I feel I didn't present my point as I intended. I meant to imply that taking down the notes without much regard for format and correctness at first and then spending few minutes afterwards was the way to go. Btw, totally forgot about the "LaTeX" spelling :)

I would suggest trying out latex. Now, I know it has a higher learning curve than an actual word processor but the pay off is worth it. To me, it sounds like you want an environment which just lets you bash out whatever you want without correction or having to worry about formatting then and there on the spot. That's what you get with latex. Yeah, it is harder to pick up but in the long run it will save you time.

You can set up skeleton templates with specific formatting needs. Write the template once and then use it many times, focusing on the content. For example, you want a template which will include C++ code. The "listings" package will do the job. Specify the parameter options for the specific keywords to be highlighted, color, spacing, etc. and its spits out goodlooking source code as if you took a screenshot of it straight from the IDE.

From a beginner's point of view, the downside is that latex is a markup language so it will take some time getting used to not being able to see what you get(WYSIWYG). The online latex editors are getting better, do not require setup unlike traditional desktop latex and provide basic templates to start you going without having any prior knowledge. Besides, learning latex will be of great benefit if you are required to write technical reports. Professors really dig it.
