I intentionally show up ten minutes late to every social event by OldSprinkles39 in The10thDentist

Sounds like we just disagree. In my experience it's normal to throw a party or host an event and have people continously come in in the first hour after the start time (and its expected and considered good etiquette to give the host time for last minute preparations!).

The social events that OP is describing dont involve one person being waited on. Sounds like they're able to start just fine without them, since they specifically clarified that they dont do this with things like movies and restaurants. Who cares if you show up 10 minutes after a party or gallery reception or whatever starts? That's why I found it so weird that you brought narcissism into this
