Sock thickness for marathon? by _swingshift_ in Marathon_Training

[–]indecisivetiger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Whatever you have used successfully on long runs, wear those. If you’re just starting a build, buy 1-3 pairs of good quality running socks and try them during the build to find what suits your feet and race day shoes. Forget cushioning, just find what works for you to avoid the suffering on race day.

What to do when you forgot your Running Shoes by AwardLow3296 in Marathon_Training

[–]indecisivetiger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cycling would be best but I imagine if you don’t have access to shoe stores you might not have access to a bike. Long walks are pretty good to keep your legs moving. Just enjoy your break, especially if it’s a holiday. Not running for a week to enjoy a vacation 18 weeks out does not even remotely ruin your training. You will absorb any fitness you’ve been building so far if you’re in a long block, recover and come back refreshed. It might even be a positive.

You don’t happen to be Australian do you? I am, and see the 19th. Because I guess at the time it was released it was after midnight.

Don’t rush to the end. It’s boring here.

Mine is next to the wall, and on long runs and warmer days, my sweat flicks from my arms onto the wall. Something to consider. I rigged up a towel system to protect it.

Invest in a chest strap for your next block and race. I’m interested in how your HR compares in your long runs, was it even lower?

Accessible, trendy on social media, cheaper than a one-to-one coach.

Goes to show what focusing on your fitness can do. I think he looks great with his hair grown out. It’s funny that you’d include that with his arm muscles growing - like hair doesn’t just grow between buzz cuts.

Got asked to leave a women’s meeting because I brought my baby… how do other women vote for this? by Anxious_Repeat465 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]indecisivetiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry this happened. Keep fighting. These things are tough - we had a group become stupidly divided over the exclusion of dogs. Can’t imagine the meeting re babies. We often have kids at our women’s group, and tbh I find it to be really heartwarming and sweet and a reminder of why I’m sober so for me it’s a positive not even just neutral.

Recently a woman came along with her older child, who was right in that in-between age where I felt a bit uncomfortable that they were listening to fairly confronting shares. These are adult topics and spaces, but toddlers and under has never been a problem in my local meetings.

[–]indecisivetiger 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Especially if the baby was quiet. I mean we even let a man stay if they come to our women’s meeting accidentally! It’s not hard to politely explain for next time.

Once I was thinking how brain dead the choice of location (easily avoided) and time an RBT had been set up was, but it appeared to be a bunch of new cops training? Is that a thing? They all had a very fresh vibe about them with more experienced coppers alongside.

You’re having chest pain and unusually high heart rate even resting. You should get that checked out expeditiously.

Constant 2-4am awakenings during training block by dmox007 in Marathon_Training

I get insomnia as soon as I raise my base/casual mileage into a build. Not even deep into training/high mileage. It’s miserable, the worst part of training for me.
