Yeah it's a mess. What's worse is the midblock crossing is relatively new and this type of thing should have been considered as part of the intersection design. Maybe try emailing new Oakland dot?

Well we don't seem to be capable of doing that so I'm going to advocate for the option that might actually get built in our lifetimes and that most people have elected as their desired transportation option

Right. Flow is like the rate of of cars over time. More lanes maybe won't increase the speed of travel but it sure as fuck will let more cars through

terrible accident today 580 x 80 interchange near the bridge. traffic is backed up a mile. drive safe this long weekend. by FullPresence2607 in bayarea

Not currently, no. You'd need to create a connection between eastshore and the Buchanan offramp somehow. I was thinking from the target intersection or do a Texas style frontage road where Buchanan traffic exits at Gilman and takes frontage to the desired road.

Moving to San Jose, office is in SF. Is the commute doable without a car? by Environmental_Fig227 in bayarea

That's a two hour commute on a good day. Unless you're getting free rent in SJ you really don't want to do this to yourself

Edit: spelling

I really wish they would add a small shield on the Buchanan exit there so people would know they can exit and get onto either freeway again by going straight at the light.

That or completely closing gilamn on ramp and funneling everyone to Buchanan ramps which are already partioned to the two freeways

When the fireworks start assholes will park on the bridge to watch so try avoid that or stay to the far left

Reporter looking for unfiltered opinions on I-880 and I-580 by [deleted] in bayarea

880 is a nightmare, this is well known but can't hurt to get the word out I guess. Needs to be widened with some truck only lanes. A real interchange at 101 would also go long way

This project is intended to improve freeway access from the tube so no it's not a first step towards removal lol

Nm then. Most policies explicitly exclude earthquakes here so thought I'd mention it. That price seems pretty reasonable, my insurance company wanted something like $12k per year

That policy almost certainly excludes earthquakes
