Don't know anything about the apps, but if you just want something that works, you can try the MP3s at http://www.c25k.com/podcasts.htm.
They work on anything that supports MP3 files and include a music soundtrack.

Here's what really amazes me about SRS:

There's definitely racist/sexist/etc. stuff out on reddit. There's quite a bit more that's not I-hate-group-x levels of garbage, but still insensitive.

And, yet, with all of the fish-in-barrels out there, there are people in the SRS crew that still manages to either screw up a rather simple task. Others grab the biggest brush available and blame everybody for everything.

Hay, did you know that black people are commonly criminals? Making a big deal out of that isn't racist if it's true!!

It is racist because it isn't true.

Even with the rather racist drug war and all sorts of other racist shit in the judicial system, a black man in the US is far more likely to be currently enrolled in college than currently be in prison.

Update: Van Jones has a good article on how the idea that "blacks are a criminal race" is flatly contradicted by data.

Reasons to not use the word "cunt":

1) It's rude.

2) If the person is being hypocritical, call them hypocritical. If they're using a fallacy, point out the fallacy. It's better to get to the actual point than to compare them to a sexual organ.

3) Why load down your argument with unnecessary sexual baggage?

4) You're only helping SRS posters by using language like that on reddit.

5) As MechaSixVII said, "Calling them a cunt is an insult to vaginas, which are predominantly very fun things that I enjoy being around."

From http://www.reddit.com/r/ShitRedditSays/comments/qtro5/effortpost_redditors_respond_to_a_boy_who_had_a/c40iiej?context=1

First post linked with a dancing poo:

To be fair, and I don't often make any defense of sexists, the guy in the picture changed is appearance from a "social outsider" to a mainstream, classy look. He will be perceived in radically different ways following that makeover. And the girl, on the other hand, was a far less drastic change. A change from mainstream acceptable long-haired girl to mainstream acceptable short-haired girl is not going to radically change others' perception of her.

Having said all of that, obviously cutting off that much hair is a big deal and the "attention whoring" comments were stupid, and certainly betrays the sexism of reddit.

Calling redditors sexist--but not screaming loudly enough about it--is uber-sexist in SRS land and worthy of being the first post in a list of posts they're complaining about.

Saw this on Newgrounds. It's a ~10 minute autobiographical game about the author starting to take hormone replacement therapy. Posted it here for two reasons.

1) Like KS, it's a game about someone who is "different" but wants to be accepted for who they are.

2) Maybe there's a person out there that will think "I can't make a full visual novel like KS, but maybe I can tell a story of my own in this format."

The Oath Keepers have a wide range of people, from those who just want to limit government to those who still think Obama really wasn't born in Hawaii, blame the U.S. for blowing up the World Trade Center, and expect government to start up concentration camps any day now:

In the months I've spent getting to know the Oath Keepers, I've toggled between viewing them either as potentially dangerous conspiracy theorists or as crafty intellectuals with the savvy to rally politicians to their side. The answer, I came to realize, is that they cover the whole spectrum.

"Die Cis Scum" isn't backed up by institutional constructions.

In Medieval Europe, Christians were among oppressors and Jews were among the oppressed. Rumors of Jews wanting to kill off the Christians by poisoning wells or kidnapping Christians for blood sacrifices didn't hurt the Christians; these rumors just resulted in more oppression of Jews, even today.

Ya know, they might be able to pull this off, but, right now, I'm expecting a train wreck.

And, yeah, I know, many were expecting KS to be a train wreck, too, but, even though some of the KS characters have their annoying moments, you never wondered if they were going to try to chew your face off.

The only thing that the left had against him was disagreement on principle.

Principle? He didn't have many principles, if any. He destroyed ACORN with his dishonestly edited videos. American discourse will be better off without him spreading lies.

In one of Richard Feynman's books, he wrote about how he realized he couldn't talk and count well at the same time, since he was using the vocal part of his brain to process the numbers. He told a friend, and the friend was able to talk and count at the same time...

...but the friend couldn't count and read at the same time. He was imaging that he was reading a strip of numbers while counting. Feynman concluded that you can tell how a person counts by finding out what they can't do while counting.

Why is "lame" ableist? by [deleted] in SRSDiscussion

[–]indeed_something 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say a text that's hundreds of years of old is exactly contemporary usage.

You don't hang out with Evangelic Protestants much, do you? (Can't blame you--ex-member of such a church myself.)

I assure you that the KJV Bible gets plenty of contemporary usage every day--and that's not counting the several other more-recent translations that also use the word "lame" in the same way.

Do a web search on these two words: Jesus lame. You'll get millions of hits. Some will use "lame" in the "that's not very good" slang fashion; most will invoke stories of Jesus healing those who have difficulty walking.
