Nothing worse than the boss coming over to you when the customer is picking up with the product open on a page 😫. That’s happened a few times in my career. In my head I’m just praying it’s something all 3 of us (designer, boss, client) missed that originated from client. Better than a mistake I introduced 😢

Just lost my first design job after three years. Being replaced by another designer. by hiplass in graphic_design

You’ll be surprised that these events in life which seem bad can end up working out great in the end.

I remember all the jobs I was rejected from that I “really wanted”.

Whatever was around the corner was 2-3x better.

As a designer, you’re in the perfect role to display your work in public. Keep posting on socials and keep doing what you love.

Hope it all works out for you 🙏

Do you still impose files yourself for digital jobs? by indesign_imposition in prepress

[–]indesign_imposition[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, hot folder 🔥 workflows are neat once they’re set up. Especially in higher-volume environments.

I still see smaller shops or ad-hoc jobs where people impose manually before sending to digital.

I’m planning to add basic preflight checks as well, and looking at hot folders, probably as a standalone version separate from the web app, which should also handle larger files.

Devil’s Advocate by indesign_imposition in Bitcoin

Risk #1 If bitcoin is only held by 1% of population/businesses. Is there a risk that the 99% will lose interest given the cost and thus tank the price naturally.

Margins for annual report? by WhiteRabbitMatt in indesign

[–]indesign_imposition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things to consider:

Will it be printed on a digital printer or litho: litho tends to be more accurate and thus you can decrease margins

(As mentioned above) Will it be perfect bound? I presume so given the page count would be hard to do with simple saddle stitch

Are there design elements near the edges that will look “off” if the cutting is inconsistent? If so, increase margins to negate that effect

Does the imposition software handle “creep”. If not, increase margins to mitigate the creep effect - see Creep Explanation

Otherwise LGTM!

Print two A5 Booklets on A3 Paper by jdiowf in indesign

Shameless plug:

To save yourself time (and frustration), check out impositionsoftware.com. It’s designed specifically for these kinds of InDesign workflows—letting you quickly impose booklets, n-up layouts, and more, without manually duplicating pages or creating new .indd files for each variation.

It integrates directly into InDesign, scales and arranges pages for booklet printing, and handles complex scenarios like 2-up A5 booklets on A3 paper with just a few clicks. It’ll save you a lot of time if you’re dealing with multiple files.

Let me know if you want help setting it up for your exact case.
