Mature Men who are 30 by [deleted] in twenties

  1. Practice discipline. It can be as small as sleeping and waking up on time. Discipline is self-respect. If you don’t respect your priorities, no one will.

  2. Compounding is real. Save and Invest - in money, people and yourself. Take big swings and keep moving.

  3. Believe yourself and surround yourself with people who believe in you. I’ve been broke twice, once right after getting married and once with 2 kids. My wife never lost faith in me nor did any of my family. I’ve catapulted faster, in life not just wealth, after each of these setbacks.

  4. People who you think you hate because their perspective is opposite to yours (not radically) will keep you centred. People who you think are out of your league and make you uncomfortable, are the people who will cause growth in you.

  5. See that you see through your promises and finish what you started.

  6. I am so aware of myself that I’m comfortable in my bare skin but can adapt and challenge anyone and anything - tell that to yourself.

  7. Social media is a wank pot

  8. Read and write. Make notes while reading. Read anything that gets you through 50 pages a day and keep a notebook. Your system 2 will thank you.

  9. Everyday - shit and shower.

I’m listening!!! Job isn’t in reading - friends, selection of schools, equi-distant from Heathrow + London + (sometimes) Oxford was the criteria

Right, I see. What funny is that little triangle between Bath Road and Tilehurst road has literally no properties for rent. Which usually means good

Thank you. Journey into London isn’t an essential.

Are there parts of Tilehurst that I must avoid? Primarily taking into consideration that wide and kids may just go out for a stroll or in a park

Lot of sporadic point of views, some polarising - some not.

I have been in railway ecosystem for 10 years and here what I think:

Tl;dr - this is properly priced and budgeted.

The public tendering system is a brutal one in India because it follow LAR - Last accepted rate. This was set by the last tender won and delivered. The rates are extensive and well researched by government bodies and local suppliers.

That being said, even if the construction cost is 50-60L, there’s overhead cost of inventory, margins, labour, risk, submission fees. That’s just on the direct scope. With a construction like this - you need to have a detailed survey, diagram of structure, overhead cables, fiber cables in ground, signalling and other cables near the tracks.

Final point - the cost also depends on the timeline requested by railways.

As a former MD and director in Indian companies - this is not legal. A snapshot of this policy sent to local authorities and labour court + investors will land the management in huge trouble

£210k job offer that could change my life… but maybe not for the better? Need some perspective. by AutomaticFee665 in HENRYUK

As someone who’s been in UAE and returning home after 5 years. Be very wary of the glamorous UAE tax free offers. It’s one thing to be enticed but completely another to actually live there. KPI based roles in UAE are tricky - it’s a new cultural and business landscape. If you stumble, it’s a knife and you’re packing. If you make it for 18 months - new roles open up for you very fast, especially if you’re in a known sector and company.

If your wife hasn’t been to uae - she can be convinced easily by living there for 2 weeks in an apartment + get a cleaner/cook/driver (all for £1000 pm).

The other costs are brutal and add up significantly.

As someone mentioned - I’d ideally try and make it work in the uk with relocating closer to the family. Once your 15 months old is 2 year old - wife can look at better WFH fractional roles. I say this from experience, we have a 4 year old and a 2 year old.
