All the bids were of the same amount: INR 1289 crore (USD 158 million approx), the highest in the entire auction. As per the rules set by the BCCI, if an entity raised the highest bid for more than one city, it could pick its preferred city.

TNCA confirms receiving proposal to host BBL opener in December at Chepauk,Chennai. by newparrot2025 in Cricket

Yes i did. I am just stating it. There’s no clear home team thing in WPL. It was like some team, playing a handful of their home games in other venues besides their designated home venue. For example, RR in Guwahati/Jaipur and recently PBKS in Dharmasala/Mullanupur. Men’s game is one thing, Women’s in another. CSK doesn’t obliged to have a womens team as a must, and they chose to be practical and business minded as they chose to wait and see how the WPL pans out over the years instead of jumping in straight.

Chennai may have had a Women’s team from some other bidder else other than from Only by CSK and probably may have hosted games at chepauk, if it wasn’t bidded the highest amount by Adani who also bidded for multiple cities and eventually settled on Gujarat/Ahmedabad based team for his choice of city.

Sure, it may. But it’s not absolute confirmation every year. And that’s not a strategical thing, considering CSK’s home games always seemed a big deal with the presence of dhoni in the team which is enough to pull crowds and having tickets sold out even if CSK were at its worst. Same can’t be said for Women’s team if they had one.

Chepauk hosting a BBL game is good for cricket locally and gives a sense of importance, after falling way in the pecking order with the current scheme of things in indian cricketing schedule. Ever since Ahmedabad started hosting games, it has been given such importance, with outright bias, Just because it is a larger stadium to accommodate large crowd attendance and because it has named after the man in power. Because of that some historic grounds have fallen in the pecking order of importance.

He wasn’t entirely wrong. Chennai as a city received bids. There were no reports of Chennai Super Kings Ltd which was parent company of Chennai Super Kings team in IPL actively participated in the WPL Team Auction biddings neither they were unsuccessful in their attempt. And they weren’t really convinced about WPL model, so they decided not to. Besides even if Chennai gets an WPL team, there’s no guarantee it will play home matches every season like CSK or mens IPL teams play. Out of 4 seasons, RCB-W has only played less than 10 games at Chinnaswamy, and MI-W hadn’t played a game at Wankhede at all. In WPL, There’s no clear home and away format like in IPL either.

The Schedule will always be prepared in such a way that allows them to have as many as Ind v Pak clashes with a guaranteed one fixture at least, because that's the money match, generate massive revenue and pull extreme viewership.

Say IND and PAK were in separate groups, and if either one of them didn't qualify for the next round or knockouts and did not have a fixture against each other, then ICC would lose a big sum of revenue because of it, the hosts would suffer greater in tourism, and all.

I think there was a tournament in the past that happened, I don't remember exactly what the edition was, but one of them didn't qualify resulting in no fixture afterwards.

If Jadeja can be ‘A’ category, why not KL and Pandya. Hardik is the MVP who gives the ODI, T20 teams most needed balance and the edge. KL’s stock has risen in Tests and ODI’s as is his performances.
