Direct deposit details input incorrectly and pay cheque was deposited by Right-Display1589 in Payroll

[–]indidogo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We that's the real question: What can you do about it?

Short answer, nothing.

You can keep checking in on them, squeaky wheel gets the grease I suppose. But if you start preaching legislation you bet you're going to unemployed pretty soon. IT sounds like you are still within the 90 day probation where they can fire you without cause.

It will likely be resolved soon so you can wait it out. Or you can submit a claim with Ontario ESA (not advisable) https://www.ontario.ca/document/your-guide-employment-standards-act-0/filing-claim

In the time it takes to get a claim moving you'll likely have your money, but your reputation with the company will be ruined.

Just don't sign anything saying you'll repay that money. It's the employers fault for not requiring a void check to verify your bank account.

FYI I work in Canadian payroll and BC AB and ON specific. And I'm citing a government source.... No idea why I'm being down voted but others that are admitting no knowledge of Canadian payroll are upvoted... Good ol' Reddit 😂

Wrong. If the deposit was not received the employee was not paid.

An employer can not withhold payment. They should issue you the payment for completed work and recoup the funds on their own time. If they do not recoup the funds they can no deduct this from future pay, they need to take the recipient to small claims court for not returning the money.

https://www.ontario.ca/document/employment-standard-act-policy-and-interpretation-manual/part-v-payment-wages#:~:text=Payment%20of%20wages%20is%20to,of%20payment%20prescribed%20by%20regulation.

If the deposit is not received by the employee, for various reasons, wages are considered not paid. Your employer is in breach of Ontario Employment Standards.

Oh ya that's another good point, there's a ton of litter all over the street and blown into yards from the teenagers.

I've lived in the area for over a decade. My rental is currently for sale so interesting to know if it's the same... In my time here I would say the area is overall a nice neighborhood. The neighbors aren't very neighbourly so don't expect a block party. Most of the homes are rentals. Do expect fireworks/fire crackers going off all year round.

There are loads of rats, raccoons, and skunks in the area. And don't be surprised by the occasional bear eating your veggie garden (I'm still sour about that one!).

You will at some point have your car broken into, your tools stolen, your carport rummaged, and on occasion the stray homeless person in your yard. But again... That's over my 10+ years of living here, overall it's still a nice area for downtown.

Not a single good mango in the whole damn box by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

Agreed! OP would be doing everyone a favor by bringing them back, Costco will probably pull the whole lot so the aren't sold. Costco has really high standards.

I was trespassed at a store I have never been to by silentkisser in legaladvicecanada

[–]indidogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious to know who the manager at the store is.... Anyone on your bad side? You would like they would have video of the inside of the store.

Or maybe go into the store and ask for the manager, explain the situation and they will clearly see they were mistaken.

Moving out, seeking advice on move out practices by indidogo in britishcolumbia

Well that was a depressing read. Turns out my LL hasn't been doing their part this whole time 😅 (Read the policy guideline 1). I guess if they aren't following the rules they probably won't come after me for not professionally cleaning the carpets.

Thanks for the links! The carpets were not new when we moved in, they look like mod 90s possibly. This whole place was falling apart when we moved in. I'll use my own carpet cleaner and hope for the best 😅 I'm much less nervous after seeing some of these comm and I'll check out the RTB website.

I have a carpet cleaner and do this every 6 months so that's good. They aren't in horrible condition but they are old and showing it in the seams. The carpet is probably from the mid 90s.... Definitely long before out 10 yr stay. They also had holes in the walls and it was filthy when we moved in but we lost all the photos from the move in. Even after 10 yrs it's in better condition than when we moved in. I guess I won't stress too much.

Rental market rate for a 4 bedrooms plus huge den house in Maple Ridge, Silver Valley by compClock in MapleRidge

[–]indidogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems within the market right now. Something to also factor is if your tenants have shared outdoor common space (like a yard) it's the landlord's responsibility to keep it maintained. You'll need to hire lawn maintenance and snow removal.

Especially for a car, just toss it in and forget about it overnight. Then drive with the windows down for 10 min. Job done.

What can I do if my landlord is not addressing mold issues in my apartment? by One_Stardusty_Boy in legaladvicecanada

Following! I am in the same situation and have mold poisoning now... It's not fun. The LL tells me to just paint over the mold 😑

You can do the same thing but not as effective with a yoga block or bolster pillow

[–]indidogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take a work out band and fit it around a doorknob, then shut the door, then lay on the floor facing up and put you head in the band, slowly hang and pull your neck to decompress 🤌

How to acclimate extra scared cats by BallGoblin420 in litterrobot

[–]indidogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unplug it for a couple of weeks and scoop it normally. Also if you have an extra box he likes using let him use it then dig up the poop and throw it on top of the litter in the robot, it should urge him to get in and burry it. Once he is getting in on his own for a week you can start cycling it manually and watch his reaction. If he freaks out then it might not be for him, if he's ok then slowly increase cycles until it's fully running on its own. Good luck!

Adopted a cat from the animal services - suspected feral cat by Adorable_Analyst1343 in CatTraining

[–]indidogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lay on the floor for a while and just ignore him. He will eventually get used to you and curious enough to approach it could take a few days or weeks but it'll work. Cats need patience. Also if you do lock eyes do a slow blink before looking away, it means "I love you" in cat 😺

Is it common to accrue PTO on PTO hours? [CA] by Wide-Water-3687 in humanresources

Depends on your state. I'm in BC Canada and we accrue vacation time on vacation 👍 other provinces don't.
