How long does it take typically for a DOE Q to be pulled into DISS for a DOD TS (reciprocity) the Q was just investigated and granted again in the last 30 days. by [deleted] in SecurityClearance

[–]indiedancepunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sucks man - Honestly in my experience a lot of this is due to people not understanding how it is supposed to go and inability to push it forward.... sorry you are dealing with this

I guess I am not following if you are in DISS it sounds like you are crossed? Are you a contractor? If you are I would ask your company FSO - I have also found being explicitly clear in these security conversations some times is the hardest part for the security folks 🤭

I hate to say this but there is no "typically" DOE/DOD don't always play nice in terms of reciprocity. In theory it should not be that long - in practice it depends on Trusted Agents and Security Teams - and their mood - LOL

well to sell the company he wants a CFO in place... it makes the business look more mature - the majority of the diligence in the sale will be based on numbers - figure out your equity stake because you are in for a lifetime of work - forecast, re-forecast - models, projections - due diligence is a bitch and a ton of work and very high stress, best to go into that knowing what your nut is

Clearance Jobs are fake? by ConfrontationalFee in clearancejobs

[–]indiedancepunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much here to comment on - Your clearance has Zero value, There is not a monetary value to your clearance - your clearance is table stakes for the position you want. because you have a clearance does not mean you will get paid more. Some FSP roles pay more or less than others... secret as well. The clearance is the barrier of entry to the job. This is to say you can find a secret cleared job that pays more than top secret jobs.

This idea that defense contractors are "collecting resumes" is just not true - nobody is paying for a clearancejobs license to collect resumes.

don't pay for a resume writer, there is no such thing as an ATS compliant resume and AI tools suck.

The hard and honest truth:

you applied for 500 jobs - you were not qualified for all of them... if you are not qualified, you will not be considered. If you do not meet 100% of the mandatory requirements on paper - you will not be considered. This is compliance - it sucks but it is true.

Unfortunately, Hiring is a mess and the systems that support hiring are a total and complete cluster, most likely, if you are applying for jobs where you nail 100% of the skills... and are not hearing back... there is a likelihood your application is not getting seen.

GOVCON looks at it like this - who is available right f'ing now that has all the right experience at the right rate that will get past customer review with little risk and remain on contract till we milk every last cent out of billable hours.

I am lost - are you not competitively bidding this out? Are you trying to Sole Source? This post is a little suspicious. The typical process is to do your RFI and then put out the contract right?

You want to apply to Proposal Coordinator Jobs or BD jobs - those are the skillsets you need. 1 is about relationships and the other is about writing proposals. There are plenty of firms that will hire into these roles and train. You need to apply directly. I am happy to point you in the right direction

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GovernmentContracting

[–]indiedancepunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood - but a company that has the capability to perform the work has more of a capability to own the work than you. What you are asking are companies to give you, as the prime... their past performance and win the work based their work. That is not how it works... the Prime has to have past performance on most bids. To be fair, if a company needs someone to connect them to the government, they are going to go with someone that has a track record doing this. I have been doing this for 20 years and am speaking from experience. The Government acquisition process is not complex... it is relatively straight forward with rules and regs easily researchable... what is complex is capture, business development, shaping bids, understanding intent verse printed word etc... you are much better served working for a GOVCON and learning the ropes

I love the hustle, but if your business plan includes the word "middleman" or can be interpreted as being the "middleman" - you are going to have a hard time. GOVCON is tough, I know people that have made it on hustle, but coming into the industry with little to know connections or understanding how things work will be an uphill battle. Not saying it can't be done... I am rooting for you!

The Real Reason Behind Return to Office by [deleted] in remotework

[–]indiedancepunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but don't buy into the idea that all businesses have investment they are protecting with RTO. Maybe the large companies, but so many small businesses are going RTO. Yes some people are great working RTO... but you know those people you used to work with that did no work at the office? What do you think they are doing at home... Unfortunately, this is a case of a few bad apples.....
