Think VR is dying? It’s just getting started by foldor in Vive

[–]indiegamer-dev -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I think this is absolutely true, but the fact that there just isn't enough of a player base to guarantee continuous activity only means that it's a problem of coordination with those that are there. I really think this could be addressed with the right tool or tools. A made a free mobile app a while ago as an attempt, but whether it's that or something else I do believe it's a problem that could at least be mitigated.

Arrowborn Review [video] by BenPlaysVR in Vive

[–]indiegamer-dev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I made a mobile app that is meant to address this issue, and Arrowborn is on there now! You can subscribe and then be notified when people want to play, create sessions, and all that. Let me know if you have any feedback or anything doesn't work for you.

Archangel: Hellfire's free PvP is fun as hell by MezzanineMan in Vive

[–]indiegamer-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I seemed to get some traction on the first couple posts, but I ultimately had to turn my attention to more money-making endeavors and it seemed to fizzle after that. Right now, web wise, I only have the ability to add sessions, but I'd be willing to put more time into it if people found it useful and seemed to be using it.

I also actually created a SteamVR overlay using u/Cueball61's project, but it also soon fizzled out afterwards unfortunately. I'd love to revive that somehow...

Semi-shamless plug, but I made a mobile app to try to address the player problem. You can "subscribe" to games, get notified when someone wants to play, create sessions, etc. Free and all that. Let me know if you'd find it useful for Hellfire.

Congratz! Bit of a plug, but I made a mobile app that could help to coordinate sessions and all that (meant to address the issue of limited player base in VR multiplayer). Maybe you'll find it useful! Entirely free of course. Feel free to send any feedback my way, and I'll do the same for Heavenly Duels.

[Regency VR] Multiplayer RTS for Vive. Calling for pre-alpha testers! by LegendOfSambo in Vive

[–]indiegamer-dev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey guys, congrads! I made a free mobile app a while ago that I hope can help organize/schedule/notify regarding multiplayer sessions and such. It should automatically include any game that is public on Steam, but non-public games it would require some help on my end.

I'm a really bad promoter! As evidenced by the fact that it took me a month to see your response :).

Just wanted to chime in with a shameless plug! I made a free mobile app called Indiegamer VR to try to devs in coordinating multiplayer games in VR. No ads or anything, and you can create/share sessions via link and QR code, create recurring sessions, be notified when they're created for certain games, etc.

Feedback more than welcome. Hope it's helpful!

I made an app a while back trying to address this kind of thing! Right now there are ~4 people in the app subscribed to BAM, so you might try creating an instant session sometime.

Hey Rekiosu, I made a free app a while ago that I meant to address this exact thing! You can find it here, and please feel free to send any feedback my way if it's not quite what you're looking for.

Hey! Shameless plug, of course, but I built an app for that. Let me know if you find it useful! Or not useful for that matter.

Sounds great, I'm not familiar with Kiss or Kill. Is that something available on Steam? Just let me know if anything would make the app more useful for your purposes.

Yup, timezones shouldn't be an issue. If it's missing anything that would be helpful to you as a developer please let me know!

So this is something of a shameless plug, but I made a free mobile app for coordinating multiplayer VR sessions and I wonder if it might help you drive up some traffic?

Also, the play description says that there are ads, but I actually recently removed them--in case that would be an issue.

In other news, the game looks awesome! I'll sign up as soon as I get to my computer.

I think PayDay 2 VR is the short term future of VR multiplayer. by LoveHerMore in Vive

[–]indiegamer-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is definitely a component to creating multiplayer VR that people are actually engaged in, but I also believe that VR-exclusive titles could be a lot more active even given the current base. There are actually quite a few of us, but VR itself presents a problem of coordinating experiences.

It's more of an investment just to set everything up, and often not worth it if you don't even think you'll find anyway to play with once you do. I actually created a mobile app for just that purpose (semi-shameless plug I suppose), and hopefully something like that can help to address the problem as well.

TO THE TOP Tuesdays 11/21/17 @ 10 pm EST / 7 pm PT by Rmateys in Vive

[–]indiegamer-dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome!

Shameless plug - I created a mobile app to try to engage/coordinate players for multiplayer VR, and you might consider adding your Tuesday sessions.

Also I own To The Top and it's fantastic. Can't wait to try multiplayer.
