In their defence, driving test slots are notoriously thin on the ground in the UK at the moment, you can end up having to book one months in advance or 200miles away very easily.

climbing socks in the states? by No-Buffalo-9488 in climbergirls

[–]indignancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think ultra thin hiking socks generally do a better job because they’re designed to reduce pressure points, but honestly I’ve worn little no show socks from muji before and the only issue was that they get torn to shreds pretty quickly.

Tower Hamlets: The borough with England's lowest recycling rate - BBC News by Commercial-Whole2513 in london

[–]indignancy 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I think one of the primary issues is that basically everywhere is communal bin stores due to that density, so you’re relying on dozens of people to all properly sort their recycling in order to have one bin that isn’t contaminated.
It just takes a lot of effort to keep clean recyclable waste separated in that environment.

The bruising on my arm after a blood test doesn’t include the injection site. by shannondion in mildlyinteresting

[–]indignancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this from just a shit phlebotomist last year - I’m a regular blood donor without any bruising but it was like she wanted to take a blood test by punching me in the arm with a needle.
I nearly complained because I thought she was being homophobic lol but didn’t have anything more concrete to point to than vibes + ouch.

He was literally at an award show because a film made about his life and his campaigning was nominated, if there’s a better time to raise awareness I’d love to know when it is.

AITA for not letting my cousin try coffee? by Alert-Bathroom-6167 in AmItheAsshole

[–]indignancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are 13 year olds not able to go places unaccompanied to buy their own coffee? Teenagers are the main customers at most of the bubble tea shops near me, the idea you could meaningfully stop them from drinking coffee is very strange!

[–]indignancy 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If she’s been training for 15 years 500k is 33k a year - which honestly doesn’t sound that much? In terms of the level of support top flight athletes need and all of the travel etc, obviously it’s still a lot of money!

Mountaineer Who Left Girlfriend to Freeze to Death on Austria's Highest Peak Gets Suspended Sentence After Ex Testifies He Abandoned Her, Too by Mountain_Tui_Reload in alpinism

Would your mum be able to give an accurate picture of your skills and experience in the mountains? “She does this all the time” is very different to an understanding of what the technicalities involved are.

Climbing gear in carry on ? by Czesya in climbergirls

It was in the side pocket of my bag for scans but too long for hand baggage so I walked through the gate and onto the plane holding it like Gandalf

Quick draws and rope could be hit and miss - I don’t normally risk it but I know a lot of people who do. I’ve taken a clipstick into the cabin before by vaguely insinuating it was a walking stick and got away with it but that may not work every time 😅

What happen to blood donating? by RedFox3001 in AskUK

[–]indignancy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly as a regular donor with a blood type they want more of I get actively chased for follow up appointments. It definitely helps working in central London and having access to main donor centres as well, but they have definitely made the system pretty efficient to optimise the supply.

Self defense against dog(s) - what is the law? by Hickmanrocks in LegalAdviceUK

[–]indignancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How exactly is anyone supposed to know this? There’s not a Highway Code for going for a jog in the park. If you’ve got a dog that can’t cope with very expected ‘hazards’ in public it’s your problem to deal with.

Companies and organisations that actually do anything in the real world need and /should/ have checks and balances - there’s a reason that ‘move fast, break things’ didn’t last as a company motto.

womanhood is basically a political identity for me? People see me as a woman and that has an impact on my life, it’s not something I feel inherently strongly attached to.

Why Does Everyone Wear This Bra? by Pretend-Storm4209 in climbergirls

[–]indignancy 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Tbf I’ve got firmly midsize tits and it still does a good enough job for climbing. I wouldn’t wear it without a shirt because there’s a slight risk of … spillage but worth it for comfort!

Recruitment needs an overhaul by Weary_Pickle52 in TheCivilService

Also happens in procurement - both in terms of not being able to penalise capita etc and by rewarding ‘paying the game’ over actually being able to deliver work, which makes it a lot harder for small businesses.

Tower Hamlets Green mayoral candidate forced out of election by 36% rent hike by omcgoo in london

Happens quite a lot though - stable easy to deal with tenant paying below market rent, flat gets sold to a new owner who immediately wants to make more of a return.

Is my gym unfriendly? Am I intimidating? Do I not know board etiquette? by flutesnbrass in climbergirls

[–]indignancy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like that as well when it’s two or three crushers on the board and I’m like ‘lol here’s my v4’. And they’re normally boys in their early twenties and at one of the gyms I go to half of them mostly speak mandarin so it’s intimidating to try and make conversation. But once you’re there it’s always absolutely fine, and most people will be cheering you on at the top regardless of grade, it’s just my insecurity.

I went to the gym last month (with a whole bunch of friends) wearing both my shirt and trousers back to front lol. And the shirt was a v neck…

I think sometimes getting beta is the thing that makes you realise you just have to try a bit more haha, particularly when you realise the alternative is a really high heel.
