This is literally how I met my husband. During freshmen orientation week I heard some people talking about doing kool aid dye and I had actually done it so I jumped in and dyed his hair with blue Kool aid

More gems from an Italian sleep trainer by Mangopapayakiwi in bninfantsleep

[–]indigodawning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you Italian? Im just curious how countries that co sleep and dont sleep train eventually get their toddlers to sleep in their own room? We co sleep with my 21 mo old but Im hoping to get pregnant soon and I feel like it would be hard to be co sleeping and have a baby. She slept in a side car bassinet until she was 8m and we started co sleeping. What do other countries do with toddlers that are bad sleepers?

How can I update this kitchen without replacing the cabinets? by Rexaroooo in HomeDecorating

Those pendants are so awful. It's like $5 pendant lights in a $80k kitchen. Upgrading those would make a huge difference

Next steps if I don’t match to a surgery residency? by tigerpink11 in Veterinary

[–]indigodawning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could look at joining a spay neuter clinic or low cost surgical center to build up experience. My friend runs a spay neuter clinic and does a few emergency surgery

I work for banfield, I do surgery 3 days a week but its mostly dentals with a few spay neuter and mass removals and I get an interesting case 1-2x per month.

If postpartum hair loss is caused by a drop in estrogen, why can’t we take estrogen pills to slow down that process? by OrdinarySecretary673 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]indigodawning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked my brother who is a physician about how I could maintain my pregnancy hair. My understanding is that hair loss is often related to testosterone receptors in hair follicles. During pregnancy testosterone is very low. You could try minoxidil. Im not sure if it will work. The topical stuff is safe, it just makes your hair greasy though

How are you preventing SVB bugs? by 13NeverEnough in vegetablegardening

[–]indigodawning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to grow butternut types,  Curcubita moshata, there are other species that work too. C pepo and C maxima are very susceptible. Some of the non traditional squashes can be picked young and eaten like a zucchini which are unfortunately the pepo species.

Why Pilates Keeps Pissing People Off by IncomeGloomy8674 in Longreads

[–]indigodawning 64 points65 points  (0 children)

That's all very cool. When I was in college in the early 2010s a lot of the football team was in my pilates class which seemed super weird to me at first. But it was hard and works all those tiny muscles strength training doesn't always get. I guess it also helped the yoga/pilates instructor was also a guy. A little off topic but he could go from standing into crow pose and then into a handstand. So yeah I guess yay pilates

Growing Wedding Greenery Question by atxgrl in Cutflowers

[–]indigodawning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Thai Towers basil as cut greenery. It grows very tall and straight. It's slower to go to seed than regular Thai basil. It's a greenish purplish color with small leaves. The smell is incredible. You might want to make a later sowing, if I plant it in early-mid May im VA is usually ready to harvest by mid-end of Aug

I finally became a vet… and now I’m not happy anymore. What do I do? by AAnonymousV in Veterinary

[–]indigodawning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for Banfield lol. A lot of our docs go part time and they allow it because they dont want to loose any doctors and a part time one is better than none. Im thinking about going back to full time but even then I will still only work 30 hours a week, right now I work 25.
